I have decided to start a whole topic just for Miro. He is my favorite character by far in any of the books I have read.
***Caution, Spoilers in this post.***
I have read many posts here, about favorite characters and such, and I can't see how people do not choose Miro. He has so much pressure on him throughout the series, and grows into maturity right in front of our eyes.
It starts when he loses his childhood love, who turns out to be his sister. He tries to run away with her and is left permanently crippled. Anyone who did not feel extreme remorse for this adolescent attempt at love is heartless.
Then, when Miro gets his body back when he goes "outside", it completely changes him into a strong and confident character. This part in the series is amazing, because it brings Miro in as pretty much the main character.
The pressure on him is almost unbareable, everyone expects him to be the new Ender, and noone can fill those shoes. Even his eventual lover, Jane, tells him that she wants him to have the qualities of Ender.
Now the part where I really found that Miro was my favorite character was almost at the end, where he has to tell YoungVal that he was lying about his love so that she can give her body to Jane. This is the moment where he has to act as Ender, and completely stop caring about himself. You can tell that he was in love with YoungVal, and what he has to do is torture. He does it, and he has to live with seeing her body, with Jane's mind in it for every second of his life.

It just seems to me that Miro is thrust into a life that Ender has already lived, where he is the scapegoat for everything that needs to be made right in the series. My one hope for Shadows In Flight is that doesnt do anything else to Miro, who has suffered enough throughout this entire series.

I don't know, I always felt that Miro's character was a bit of a cheat. He goes outside and magically gets a whole new body?

He's a good character. I'm only as far as sixty pages into Xenocide and I liked his skirmish with Valentine.

Pipo is kind of underrated too. He's not a big sympathy character but his interraction with Novinha got me attatched.

Yeah, Miro is awesome! He's got great lines. My favorite is in CoTM, when he's walking away from Ender at the Monastary when he says outloud to Jane:

"Oh Shut up!!" And then the gardener looks at him, and he says:

"Not you! But that doesn't mean it isn't a good idea"
