At the end of chapter 7,"TEAM", Cole makes a big deal of them being a team and getting into the SUV to go with Rube. Even his jeesh says they should be together. They leave together.
Then the very next chapter, 8 "COUP" starts out with Cole at the Pentagon and Rube on his way to NJ, driving the SUV and not using the plane ticket he bought as cover earlier.
So my question is, what happened? Why are they not together? How is Cole supposed to help protect Rube and alert the team if they are not together? Why have a whole page of the bicker back and forth not to be together end with them together and then throw it all away in the next page?
I enjoyed the book, but that just stuck out to me thru the rest of the book.

We all know that time passed oddly in Empire, I think the exchange was to point out that Cole was going to stay in the loop. Malich seemed to have wanted to play the entire thing stoicly and go down alone, but Cole and the other soldiers were decidedly going to help Malich in the fight against the then unknown enemy and situation.
I have my OSC books on my desk and I skimmed through the pages sorrounding your query, but that is what I gathered.
