So the back flap of Hidden Empire has an about the author thingy. Nothing special in that sole fact. However, the text did cause me to wonder a few things...specifically, when it says that "He [OSC] has been a beloved figure in the gaming world for more than twenty years," I'm unsure about which games it refers to (and if these games are noteworthy). Advent Rising? Surely it's not twenty years old! Perhaps it refers to "The Secret of Monkey Island."

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I'd imagine that it's a reference to the work he did on Monkey Island. He was also a game reviewer for Compute! (if memory serves) for quite a while.

[Edited to correct a typo]

Maybe he's just been a beloved figure among gamers for the last 20 years.

There's a little more on his time with LucasArts here.

I'm sure Noemon is right about the "twenty year" refrence being to Card's COMPUTE! magazine column. Staring in May 1988, it was called "Gameplay," and it's archived online here. He'd been doing some stuff for the magazine before that, and editing their books for them as well.

He also wrote about games for Omni, though I don't know when that began.
