I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times and I'm sorry. I did a search and looked through the forums but I couldn't find an answer.

So I just finished reading Ender's Game and I'm unsure where to go next. There's so many it's hard to figure out where to go next.

Answers are greatly appreciated.

Thanks to those that answer!

The next book is Speaker for the Dead. Ignore anyone who foolishly tells you otherwise. [Smile]

I read ender's shadow right after, then jumped to speaker for the dead.
the books aren't written in chronological order, but I find it most satisfying to read them in the order they are written.

I am curious to know the effect of reading ender in exile, then speaker for the dead (the order the events occur to ender) but it's a risky move that only someone adventurous would try.

some people wll tell you to read ender's shadow next and then just read the sequal of whichever storyline your most interested in. you should definately finish the old ender series before reading the bean series imo.

*post edited because as sean pointed out, i totally wrote the wrong title* [Blushing]

Did you mean Ender in Exile? Shadows in Flight doesn't exist yet.

Read them by order of release. Then years later read them chronologically.

Personally, I prefer
1. Ender's Game
2. Ender's Shadow
3. Shadow of the Hegemon
4. Shadow Puppets
5. Shadow of the Giant
6. Ender in Exile (it reveals things about the Shadow series so you might want to save it for later)
7. Speaker for the Dead
8. Xenocide
9. Children of the Mind

And First Meetings can be read between any of these books [Big Grin]
But even if you skip ahead or miss a few books, they're still enjoyable to read so I don't really think it matters.

Happy reading!

I would suggest the order that follows. As the Shadow arc is after Battle School while Ender is on his way to Shakespeare Colony, however it mostly finishes before he arrives and thus Exile really caps off the events within the Shadow Arc.

1. Ender's Game
2. Speaker for the Dead
3. Xenocide
4. Children of the Mind
5. Ender's Shadow
6. Shadow of the Hegemon
7. Shadow Puppets
8. Shadow of the Giant
9. Ender in Exile

That was my first read through and it was amazing. You could read through the Shadow Arc if you'd really like to, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I just depends on who you want to follow first. Ender and Val, or the World.

Welcome to the Enderverse!

As an after thought... I cannot wait for Shadows in Flight. *Sits like a child waiting for dad to finally get up Christmas morn.*

So after your replies I have decided to read "Speaker For The Dead" next, but I'm sure I'll be undecided on what to read next lol. So many ways to read this series its confusing!
