I agree with you, however has OSC posted that the movie is not going to be made somewhere on the site?

that would be awesome, i'm sure it'll happen one day when i'm like 50 yrs old. just like they did with watchmen...

Not that I know of. The last thing I recall him saying was about 5 years ago when he said that while it had looked for a while that the movie would finally happen this time, it had fallen through again. Since then, there's been nothing beyond idle speculation.

i thought the purpose of making the comic books was to have Marvel help adapt the series from page to screen.

What's the hang up.
Seriously I want EG to be a movie so bad.

Thats what I thought as well. I haven't found out anything after that.

We should celebrate every single time it isn't made poorly.

For those who don't already know, this was posted at the end of April:
quote: Deadline reports that Summit Entertainment, the folks who bought us the Twilight films, have acquired the US rights for Ender's Games. Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is set to direct his script.
According to Deadline:
quote: The film will be shopped at the upcoming 2011 Cannes Film Festival, with Nick Meyer's Sierra/Affinity brokering offshore deals. The plan is to put the film into production by early next year.
Mourning time yet? I'm gonna at least give it a chance...after I see the cast and possibly a trailer or 2...

One hang up is OSC -- he'd rather there be no movie than a mediocre one.

I thought we heard sometime after April that that deal had fallen through and he'd given up on the movie... or maybe I just dreamed that, who knows.
As cool as it would be to see the kids fly through the battle room, I'd hate to see an on screen butchery of these books - so I'm content without a movie.

That's why they waited for Hienlien to be in his grave to make the monstrosity "Starship Troopers". Paul Verhoven (Showgirls) had the sheer audacity to put Hienlien's name on the title.
If I even happen to meet Verhoven I'll castrate him...with a broken bottle...of hot sauce.
So, the mediocre (terrible) EG movie won't be made til after OSC's death. Hopefully a long, long time.

What we need to think about is this.
Do we even want Ender's Game to become a movie? I mean for me, The Ender series was one of such magnitude and held such weight for me that I would be mortified to see that noble story depicted in a way unbefitting for its majesty.
Think about it, when have you ever seen and instance in which a popular book where the characters are children ever be successful on the big screen? Take the Lightning Thief for example. The Percy Jackson book was a great story and a national bestseller but it was tarnished by a terrible atempt at a movie.
The simple truth is this: child actors just do not have the traits that are expressed by the characters in Orson's books.

i think it's gonna be great as a movie. enders game was far ahead.. imagination wise.. we're getting more advanced every day.. we learn things faster at a younger age.. it just makes sense. it'll be like the new star wars, star trek, matrix, etc.

Yahooooooooooo!
"Summit Sets Dates for RED 2, ENDER’S GAME, NOW YOU SEE ME, STEP UP 4, SINISTER and WARM BODIES"
Yup, IGN just posted an article about it. Pretty awesome news!
It's actually a solid date if you think about it. Almost 2 years to shoot the film and get all the effects down. Consider Star Trek (the new one) was basically rushed out the door, there's some hope for this, still.
The only thing that has me skeptical is the director...
