Robey, look at the bar across the top of the page and see all the buttons there. One of them is labelled "chat". That's the hatrack chatroom. It's kind of sucky as chat interfaces go but there are often hatrackers in there, which is cool. That's where this thread is beckoning us.

Chats are not generally scheduled. Parachat is highly variable -- often empty, occasionally as many as 5 or 6 (that's the most I've seen) people.
If you want to chat and have AIM, try the chatroom Hatrack Chat. Usually someone there; often many someones.

You know, I think I'd rather use Trillian. Using AIM feels like using Microsoft software, except even more bloated and counter-intuitive.

Here's how to do it, for Euripedes and anyone else who is new.
After you install AIM, launch it, click on "+-setup" at the bottom and add your own screenname to your buddy list. Then save it and return to the main window. Your sn should show as online now.
Right click your sn and choose "Send Chat Invitation". Then when the window pops up with "Join me in this chat" change the chatroom name from the "chatroom random long number string" that it defaults to, to the chatroom "Hatrack Chat". Then click send. It should pop you in the room!

You can do this with Trillian - it's what I use.
Right click on your AOL identity and select "Invite to a Chat Room". Type in Hatrack Chat and it'll connect you, no problem. Posted by Euripides (Member # 9315) on :
