Hi Guys, work beckons so I must be brief.

While I'd floated around on the old forum for over a year before registering this name on the "new" UBB, the 28th is the 4th Anniversary of Troubadour on Hatrack River.

Thanks for making want to stay around so long - especially you old-timers. Appreciation goes out to everyone - you're all great. Special mention to:

(in no particular order)
ClaudiaTherese
TomDavidson
AKA
Olivet
Belle
Slash
Porcelain Girl
Bob_Scopatz
Ethics Gradient

And any number of others who I'm just way too rushed to mention - sorry! But thanks go out to everyone.

Cheers guys!

Happy hatrack anniversary Troub.

I've been here 3 years and 2 months I guess. My hatrack registration day happens to be my 18th bithday. Strange how that happened. I guess I can say I have always posted here as an adult, at least legally, and that I've been registered here my entire adult life.

Someday I will go on someone's list of their favorite hatrachers.

No actually I probably won't.

Posted by Ethics Gradient (Member # 878) on :

Yeah, go away, X... No one likes you

Just kidding, of course!

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Thanks Xavier, Twinky and Bob!

EG - well I don't have to deal with revues or the bevy of insane women that seemed to regard me as their personal property, so I've got a lot more time on my hands!

Happy anniversary Troubs, its great having you on the forum.

Posted by Ethics Gradient (Member # 878) on :

Bevy of insane women, eh?

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Thanks Black Fox - the feeling is mutual. Your posts have shown you to be a man of remarkable insight and intelligence that I've totally enjoyed reading.

EG - oh yeah. Like you wouldn't believe - and it wasn't a good thing either... *L*

But I thought young Astrid was your soul mate... She'll be shattered

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Which one was Astrid again? (And for god's sake don't tell her I said that if she's cute )

Oh, you know, the beer drinking one... Played the trumpet, I think.

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Ah that's right! Damn she was excellent! Musician, drank beer, loved Grand Theft Auto III on PS2 and cute to boot. She was such a babe, and definitely not in the psycho-chick posse... *L*

Posted by Ethics Gradient (Member # 878) on :

Yep. I remember you waxing lyrical before...

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Really? I waxed lyrical? Hm. Well, a computer-game lovin' chick does it for me... *L*

Posted by martha (Member # 141) on :

Troubs, why do you have to live way the hell over there? I'd like to join your new and improved bevy of insaen women.

Posted by Ethics Gradient (Member # 878) on :

Martha, that just goes beyond flirtation... There are minors reading this forum!

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Well Martha, I guess that just makes myself, EG, Skyweir and Enjeeo valuable rare commodities...

How about we dub you an honourary insane bevy-sister (overseas contingent)?

EG - Shhh...

Posted by Ethics Gradient (Member # 878) on :

*backs slowly out of thread* Steady there, steady...

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Besides Martha - I have hair now (there's a new pic in the Hatrack Album), maybe I just don't got it anymore?

Posted by Chuckles (Member # 2865) on :

Congrats!
I have this crazy idea about having my thousandth post thread on the same day as my one year Hatrack anniversary, but I don't think I'll be able to post enough by then...

Take care
-Justin-

If I ever make it to 1000 posts it'll be a bloody miracle. I put it to the entire of Hatrack that I am the slackest poster on the boards. 4 years and only 318 posts.

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

But you've been picking up the pace, lately. Soon you'll have to quit bragging about what a lurker you are.

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

how else do you think I've been racking up the posts?!?

Where do you find ones like these?

Wait, you probably shouldn't tell me. I've got my hands full as it is

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Well they're about... but very very rare... We've got one or two floating around on these very boards.....

These are the ones I need to learn to meet. What sorts of places do they hang out at? I'll have to make notes for January when I'm back in Waterloo...

Yeah, I know... surprises the hell out me too... But if you include the old forum, I've been here since July '97 - so almost five and a half years! I'm celebrating this mark as it's also the first place I used this handle, and it's been with me ever since...

Good lord, how things have changed...

July 97. I'd just been sacked (sorry, "made redundant") only a month after getting $20,000 loan to buy music gear. It was all electronic, so selling it off straight away wasn't an option - I'd be lucky to have got $10K back, still been in debt, still had the same payment schedule, but had no gear. So I stuck with it. I'd also paid for four months of internet connection up front. So at that time in my life, I was discovering the internet for the first time in my life while living in the scungiest of basements in an apartment block. My front door was at the back of the building under the fire-escape. I was on the dole and frantically trying to make enough money on the sly to even survive - my loan and rent was $440 a fortnight - my dole was $380 a fortnight. I spent a year of dodging summonses for non-payment of loans, credit cards, internet bills, phone.. you name it. Very low times...

Amazing how much changes in five years....

Happy Anniversary to you.

Way to go Troubs. You've stayed just about as neutral as I have. And for twice as long as well. Impressive.

Feyd

Congratulations, and of course aim for another four

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

Thanks guys...

I'm glad I'm not in that place anymore either - but there was something amazing and raw about those times... I experienced the biggest burst of creativity I've ever had before or since.

Oh I wouldn't say I've remained neutral but after being here this long you know to avoid certain thread topics when the crop up!

Threads I endeavour not to read, let alone post on:

Homosexuality
Abortion
Creation vs Evolution
God does/doesn't exist

Hoo boy, the arguments we used to get into in the old days over those tired old horses. Glad not to partake in them anymore...

Happy anniversary, Troubs.

While it may falsely appear that EG gets all my Aussie-oriented love, you and I will always have the FrankenChicken holding us together. And that's solid, baby.

That's gold.

Where has the Troubador been lately, anyway? I still have some of songs on my computer and I don't remember if I'd told him that I enjoyed them.

Posted by Olivet (Member # 1104) on :

Happy anniversary, Troubs! Sorry I saw this late.

Hey, you might like to know that I actually listened to the songs you had linked to several times. I had them as favorites until I switched computers.

You have talent (and I'm not JUST kissing your @__ because you listed me in that first post [Wink] )
