I've decided to post another song of mine. I completed it at the same time as the other one I posted a while back..... I recorded them both over about a day and a half. This one took a bit longer, and I'm much less happy with it - plus you can hear how tired my voice is all the way through. I kept on planning to go through and fix it up, but just haven't had time. So anyway, without further ado - Lacking Reason.

Maybe it's just me, but the links don't work.

Hmm.. they seem to be fine - they link directly to the tracks on the FTP server, so perhaps your browser is just taking a while to download the tracks?

It does take a while to download, but when the download is complete, there is no product. Is it supposed to start up right away? Because it's not downloading to any location on my computer.

Bummer, I guess I'll have to wait until you're famous to hear it.

Ah eureka! It just took about ten minutes to open for some reason.

Good stuff, I like it a lot.

Hey Troubs...

great songs! What systems are you using to record these? I'm looking into buying some recording equipment...any advice on what to get? The sound quality is really good, were they done at a home studio?

Well done Troubadour !

I still prefere the Beatles, but your song is a good moment of peace, in the middle of a day of work. And thanks to share your music. It's magical to be able with internet, to listen to sons from all over the world, without having to wait the singer to be famous !!

I promess that as soon as my songs will be on my computer, I'll share it !!

Do you sing too, Frenchwomanonline ? If so, what kind of songs ?

Again - thanks guys!

Zotto - I use Cubase SX, Reason 2 on an Apple G4 laptop running OS X. I have a Mark of the Unicorn 828 firewire conversion box, with 8 in, 8 out including 2 phantom-powered mic inputs and adat optical I/O, with a Rode NT2 condensor mic. The piano is a Kurzweil K2500XS and most of it was indeed recorded at home. The vocals were recorded in a sound-proof recording booth, with the Mic and firewire box plugged into the laptop in the booth with me. Unfortunately I didn't have the benefit of a popper-stopper, so the vocals are a bit muddier and boomier than I'd like. I'm also a crap drums programmer, and neither am I a sound engineer, so the mixing is a little hit and miss...

But essentially, it's all "prosumer" gear, all reasonably affordable and capable of some really professional sound if you know how to squeeze it a bit better than me! [Smile]

This is the sort of recording quality I aspire to once I've graduated and can afford to buy new gear.

I can't wait to have a decent guitar and amp to put my effects board through its paces [Big Grin]

Nice work as always, Troubs.

Thanks Twinky!

Additionally, I've also posted It's Probably Me a quickie Sting cover myself and a guitarist friend did about a year ago for a friend's wedding. We put that one together in about two afternoons....

Yes Anna, I sing !

Well I don't feel as a star, but only having fun and trying to give fun to people when I'm on the stage. What kind of songs ?

Well I'm not able to sing as Jane Birkin, I've got to much voice ! My voice is said to sound as Edith Piaf's voice. So I sing some creations in french. But I also like english music of course. You gave me an idea of discussion... about music. I prepare my words and I come back..
See u !

Side Note: I was going down the list of the best jobs ever and Troubador came in near the top.

*bump!*

Just thought these were some good songs the newbies should hear!

Troubs: thanks again for the info on the systems ya used. I REALLY need some money for equipment and a permanent place to live; I SO badly want to record. [Wall Bash]

[Big Grin]

Edit: Troubs (or, heck, any musician who's reading this [Smile] ) : if you can/want to, could you go into a little more detail in how your studio is set up? I've been trying to read up on the various types of home recording methods, but it's a little hard to do when I'm stuck in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness. [Big Grin]

*goes to look up info on the 'net*

Oh, another BTW, did you ever get a popper-stopper? [Big Grin]
