Alucard, it uses the first and last letters of your two names to get the two hobbit and elf names.
So the only data mine actually used was "pp mr" and "pl mr" depending on whether I shortened my first name or not.
Your first name and Morbo's must start and end with the same letters.

nfl, I'm not sure about that.
My name and Jon Boys name don't have the same first letters in either first or last name. Last 3 letters, if Jon is using his full name, would be the same.
Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :
Not even that. My first name is Jonathon, not Jonathan, so it must be based on something else.
Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :
Simple enough, its already been said. First and last letter of your name. I tried Nan Nak, got the same thing, then tried Nn Nk and got it as well.
::shrugs::
Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :
quote:Q: How's it work? A: Compared to some of the other name generators out there, the algorithm is simple. It takes the first and last letter of each name then, based on a character set, expresses those letters as a two-digit key which maps to the index of a particular Hobbit name.
In order for every first-last letter combination to have a unique Hobbit name, there'd have to be (26*26) 676 different first and last names. There probably isn't that many, so of course there is repetition. Jon Boy and T_Smith (or Alucard and Mobo) don't have to have the same letters, but any name with the first and last letters of either will get the same result.

At the last hobbit site I got completely different results depending on whether I entered Julie or Julia. Hobbit: Julie (lastname): Laeryan Pickthorn of the Shire Julia (lastname): Claengwen Norcross of the Bree Smurf: either Full Montey Smurf or Chanukah Smurf. Human: Julie: Haon Queen of Gondor!!! Julia: Foawen Eorl I knew there was a reason I've always liked Julie better! Wizard: Melia , Powers of Arda or Valaraukar , Queen of the Sea Maybe I should be going by Julia! Dwarf: Mereana of Belegost or Ysalyan , Queen under the Mountain Elven: Védith Queen of the Noldor or Móng Greenleaf
I think I'm destined to be royalty somewhere! Except with hobbits. I think it's funny how one letter made so much difference. I didn't change the last name or the first four letters of the first name, and yet my entire name changed!
