*dazzled* Hey, cool!! TAK, did you see this?

I would love to see y'all jam. Maybe there will be music? If not from y'all, from somewhere else? There's always Deep Ellum.

We need to invited DB, even though he lives ten hours away.

Oh, cool! I get to meet Lead! Can DB come? *just looked at calendar* Dang it, that's not the weekend.

In case I didn't make it clear, it's open invite for anyone traveling through Dallas anytime... e-mail me and we'll do *something*

Posted by Lead (Member # 918) on :

Kat, weren't you at the Endercon picnic last year? ;-)

Yes, I live here, and I shall not again miss a chance to meet the infamous Slash, so please count me in on any planned activities, official or otherwise. Sadly, after being fired from my job of five years, I find myself busier than ever. I'm currently hard at work on a contract job, and it's eating up most of my waking hours (and most of my sleeping hours as well). So when there are details, could someone drop me an email?

Maybe I could show up and me and Slash could duke it out once and for all.

Not because I don't like Slash, but because everyone here seems to think because the Lizard man can destroy me in a Hatrack popularity contest, this somehow makes him Hatrack's fightin'-est man.

So Slash, maybe I'll come to D.

Oh. Can you bring me a glass or two of the real absyinthe?

[Smile]

Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :

Thor, I'd love to meet you guy, but I am way past the age of recreational brawling. At this age, someone goes to the hospital.

And no, you can't have my absinthe.

You see Slash, I've only got 2 drugs left on my

Why you no wanna help a brother out?
Is it because your lakers and your raiders suck?

*Sigh*

I'll put you in the hospital if you force me to, but it's not my preference. [Smile]

I'd probably spring for a beer, if Texas has any good beer.

Posted by The Silverblue Sun (Member # 1630) on :

They sell your faggy europeeing beer, if that's what you're talking about, but since you're going to be in Texas, we will be drinking margaritas!

Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :

I don't drink european beers.

I drink hearty NW micro brews.

And I love tequila, and for sure Texas must have good tequila. That would work.

Posted by The Silverblue Sun (Member # 1630) on :

!!!!!!!TEQUILA!!!!!!!

um, T.A.K. is driving [Big Grin]

Posted by Lead (Member # 918) on :

Mmmm......tequila! Slash, can't you stay through a Friday evening, so some of us won't have to be at work the next day?

~~~Lead
Posted by T. Analog Kid (Member # 381) on :
Like hell I am! we're doing this at my house!
I will, however, get some choice tequilas...
What say Jimador silver for 'ritas and Sauza Triada for shots?
Slash, you *have* had Shiner Bock, haven't you?
If you and Thor are up for it, I'll give you guys a kung fu laesson... it hurts as bad as a real fight, so you guys can pound on each other with proper supervision as to avoid a hospital visit.
TAK, why not just get some Amtgard swords... Let them beat the crap out of each other with PVC covered in foam. That'll really ensure no visits to a hospital.
And, even though it is the weekend afterwards, anyone doing anything the 9th or 10th of August. It looks to be the last time I'll be in Dallas for a while.
Feyd Baron, DoC
Well, they say absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. I'm going to have to miss this Hatrack Picnic in Dallas. [Frown] You guys are invited here to Birmingham to the Last Hatrack Homely House anytime. Let me know when a week or so in advance and I'd love to have you.
Posted by T. Analog Kid (Member # 381) on :
Drop on by, Baron, it's not like we'll finish off two bottles of tequila on a week night...
Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :
TAK, I have a second degree brown belt in Jiu Jitsu, so you probably don't want to try out your Kung Fu on me. [Smile]
But feel free to do a demo. I always thought Kung Fu was the prettiest of the martial arts to watch.
Posted by Zalmoxis (Member # 2327) on :
I just like to remind all of you if that it's going to be a proper smackdown, somebody better be wearing a lycra bodysuit.
That said, I'm not going to even venture to suggest who that should be.
Posted by Ralphie (Member # 1565) on :
My only suggestion is Not Slash.
Lycra is a privledge, not a right.
Posted by The Silverblue Sun (Member # 1630) on :
I'm going to wear an alkaseltzer body suit, and, oh Slashie, I just pee'd my pants finding out that you have a gunmetal belt in jerk-jitzu.
Yeeeeeha!
I'm drunk already!
I've got a Von Erich Death Grip Eagle Scout Patch!
You're so hospitalized!
Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :
I won't wear Lycra, but I wouldn't mind one of those fancy mexican wrestler masks like Strong Bad wears.
Ummmm...
Thor?
Just as a side note, we WILL be at a nice families house. You might want to tone down the actual meeting a bit. Don't be a bad guest.
Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :
And make SURE they know ahead of time. For emergencies, rely on your own wits.
Posted by T. Analog Kid (Member # 381) on :
You don't want me in Spandex. I volunteer Katharina.
"Pretty" is not the word I would use to describe the kung fu I do... I can't do the flowery stuff, very bread and butter. But If you'd like to watch some nice stufff, our upper belt class is Tuesday night and you'd be welcome to come watch. Are you classical Ju Jitsu or one of the modern variants?
I'm thinking Monday night for the get together... any objections? We can drink good tequila, watch "Silverado" (the best western that no one's ever heard of) and talk smack till the wee hours... and in the morning, I'm makin' waffles!
P.S. - Thor, are you gonna be up for Mur's show at the lakewood this weekend?
Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :
Monday sounds great, and I want to come to the class on Tuesday. You never invited me. *sniff*
No spandex, though. Considering Thor is going to be there, and in light of his latest threads, I might come in a trenchcoat with security traps.
Where is lakewood???
I saw them here in Houston at the Rythm room last Saturday night. They were awesome!!!
We talked more about doing the video for "take the bank" - now the big problem is to find a small town bank that will let us shoot inside for 2 days....
Thor, if you are trying to get my attention by being a dick, stop it. I outgrew such 5th grade tactics.
I prefer to be romanced now.
Posted by T. Analog Kid (Member # 381) on :
So it's settled, then? Slash vs. Thor, Monday night at my house to see who, um, gets to be on top?
Did I mention to bring swimwear?
Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :
Ummmm...
I would prefer to avoid wrestling our resident nordic god if possible. He outweighs me by about 60 pounds. In mexican mask or not.
Just so no one gets disappointed, here are some pertinent facts:
In person, I prefer to take on a nice boring mammalian form.
When in mammal form, I am 5'11", 195 pounds, with dark brown hair and very blue eyes. I am utterly unremarkable in appearance.
Just so you know. [Smile]
So how was the big event?
I really wanted to go, but
#1 - Katharina has accused me of being a creepy, sicko, stalker who thinks he's god.
<<<None of this is true, I'm weird not creepy, I'm smelly not sicko, and a stalker? I've never even sent her an e-mail???!!!??? {sure she's got great eyes and pillow lips, but hey so do about 100,000 women in Texas, this ain't freaking buffalo or arkansas} and as far as being God, um, duh, I didn't create the Earth, The Sun and the Moon, AND I can't even conjure up a girlfriend or a good job, do you really think I think I'm god? double duh.>>>
#2 - I've been forbidden to ever lay eyes on Slash the Berzerker. He's afraid I'd stalk him to.
(what is it with you people???)
So how did the SMACKDOWN go????
I'd say extraordinarily well, except after a couple of shots of Del Duenos, Slash started leaving scales laying around.
I made them sit thorugh one of my songs, the trailer for "The Passion", a Farb-Rausch demo, and "The Final Flight of the Osiris". In return for which they paid many undeserved compliments to my house (undeserved because it isn't mine), provided excellent company, and gratefully consumed my hamburgers.
A very pleasant night overall.
Who all attended?
Did you get photoes?
Posted by Bob the Lawyer (Member # 3278) on :
No head was booted? I thought you were going to give them a kung fu demo of sorts?
Posted by T. Analog Kid (Member # 381) on :
I didn't want to take advantage of Slash's weakness for fine tequila (I had never had Del Duenos-- it's excellent)... besides, he has reach and physique advantages on me so I took the better part of valor.
Off Lead got along amazingly well with my beagle, Sailor.
She, also has the pictures, so it may be a bit before they are publicized.
It was just Slash, Kat, Off Lead, and me, but I think we all hit it off pretty well and had oodles of good clean fun, though I probably talked about myself too much...
Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :
TAK fails to mention his four astonishingly good looking kids and his wife who was very pleasant about having her house invaded.
His music was just fine. The demo was amazing. And he didn't talk about himself more than anyone else did.
As to my physical advantages, I think they would be of less value than TAK intimates. He being built like a short kodiak bear. He made me think of that funny canadian commercial where the bear is using kung fu to fight that fisherman. I picture him as the bear. [Smile] His calves alone made me think he could stand on his tip toes while an abrams tank was balanced on his head.
If Sailor could have figured out how to talk, I'm sure a marriage proposal to offlead would have happened immediately afterward. I've never seen a dog that enamoured of anyone.
Kat makes me think of my aunt Julie.
Posted by Lead (Member # 918) on :
TAK does indeed have a beautiful family and home. He and his wife were terribly kind in opening up their home to strangers, and we had a wonderful time. And while I'm fond of most dogs, Sailor is an exceptionally fine fellow, kindly willing to let a stranger scratch on him all night.
Oh, and while TAK did not demo for us, his son did. [Smile] Mighty fearsome.
It was ever so much fun to visit with everyone, and I'm glad I got a chance to know Kat better, since I don't think we got the chance to do more than exchanged greetings last year in Utah. Now I have someone to go to movies with here in Dallas! [Big Grin]
I believe Slash may have tried to hide from me at the airport, but I spotted him in spite of his having turned the cap I was watching for around so I couldn't see it. He was very polite about it, however, and in spite of his disappointment in me let me tag along with him.
I am indeed the holder of the pics, but I've been busier than proverbial long-tailed cats this week. (Not to mention what staying up WELL into the night visiting has done to my sleep schedule!) I've got to work on a couple projects tonight, but once I've met these deadlines I'll see what I can dig up off the camera.
Just thought I'd correct Slash-- I'm much more "Pooh" bear than Kodiak. I may have a low center of gravity, but I am rather soft... [Smile]
Thanks both of you for the kind words. It was a blast having you around.
Oh, and for anyone who wants to see the "demo" slash was talking about (it was a 64k graphics and audio demo) you can get it here.
It's only 64k, but you need a decent system to run it because it unzips into nearly 2GB of audio and 3d rendering. Enjoy all!
I had an absolutely wonderful time getting to know everyone. I already knew TAK and his wife and kids - who are adorable. Slash reminded just of himself and slightly of my middle brother when my middle brother is being charming and sweet. Lead was a blast, and yay! Movie buddy! [Smile] It was great.
So where are the pictures? Did I miss them?
Posted by Lead (Member # 918) on :
No, you didn't miss a thing. I'm just extraordinarily behind on my List O' Cr@p To Do. If I don't remember to send them out tonight, please nag me about it!
Thanks!!
Sadly, I did not simply forget that I was supposed to do this last night. I did not even simply get caught up in work stuff and let it slip my mind, nor even just not get around to it. No, last night I spent the entire evening trying (successfully, I hope) to get the blast worm off my system, and restore the system to a functioning, stable status. Stupid worm.
I hope I'll have better luck tonight!
Mine are doing well. I tried to stack Ciara last night to get some conformation pics because she has changed so much going from adolescent to adult. I was planning on putting her up and not showing her for a while anyway. But, I've also been sick, and not been able to work with either of them much. Anyway what used to be easy became a huge process with a definite lack of co-operation and I'm going to have to retrain her to stack for the show ring. Good I found this out before I took her in!
Good luck with the worm... sorry to hear about it... probably that Slash guy's doing...
