I know very little about astrology, so if you know more please correct me.

Astrology uses the position of the stars and planets at the moment of your birth to predict your future and describe you.

Mars is a planet that represents aggression, anger, rage, war, blood.

As Mars is closest to Earth now than it has been for decades, then it would seem that....

A story possibility would be what our future holds when the thousands of children born yesterday, and the surrounding weeks, come of age full of the anger of Mars.

I only bring this up because I am intrigued by this story idea, and because my boss had a baby boy today.

While astrology that I have studied generally doesn't care about proximity to _Earth_ of the planets, I've seen that some of the nuts on Usenet seem to think that way.

To give you more gristle: In astrology the birth chart is thought to be your general makeup. However, your day-to-day issues are believed to be caused by the alignment of the planets on the current day, as compared to your birth chart.

Where am I going with all this? Well, in 17-18 years, Mars will be fairly close again, that would be a great idea for what triggers the anger...

*laughs* Or it could just be a bunch of 17-18 year olds with too much testosterone...

Dan,

the idea sounds interesting. If conventional astrology doesn't give you what you want, you could make up your own - as an "alternate history" or something of that nature.
