Gather here at sundown to remove the newbie menace from Hatrack. Bring your own torch and pitchfork.

lol
(for all the n00bs that didn't see the welcome thread, here it is. We'd love it if you stayed...that is, if Chaeron doesn't get everyone to kill you first.)

[Chaeron:] The Newbie will make off with your children. [Mob:] {gasp} [Chaeron:] He'll come after them in the night. [Equality:] No! [Chaeron:] We're not safe till his head is mounted on my wall! I say we kill the Newbie! [Mob:] Kill him! [Man I:] We're not safe until he's dead [Man II:] He'll come stalking us at night [Woman:] Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite [Man III:] He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free [Chaeron:] So it's time to take some action, boys It's time to follow me
Through the mist Through the woods Through the darkness and the shadows It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride Say a prayer Then we're there At the drawbridge of a castle And there's something truly terrible inside It's a Newbie He's got fangs Razor sharp ones Massive paws Killer claws for the feast Hear him roar See him foam But we're not coming home 'Til he's dead Good and dead Kill the Newbie!
[Equality:] No! I won't let you do this! [Chaeron:] If you're not with us, you're against us! Bring the old man! [Maurice:] Get your hands off me! [Chaeron:] We can't have them running off to warn the creature. [Equality:] Let us out! [Chaeron:] We'll rid the village of this Newbie. Who's with me? [Mob:] I am! I am! I am! )
Light your torch Mount your horse [Chaeron:] Screw your courage to the sticking place [Mob:] We're counting on Chaeron to lead the way Through a mist Through a wood Where within a haunted castle Something's lurking that you don't see ev'ry day It's a Newbie One as tall as a mountain We won't rest 'Til he's good and deceased Sally forth Tally ho Grab your sword Grab your bow Praise the Lord and here we go!

You're officially my favorite newbie.
For the next hour.

Well, I was trying to avoid this thread, then came in here to see who had added to it....
Equality 7-2521: Great Work.
I can't ignore that. (Sounds like an investment cue...)

Oh how generous of you! Your compassion is truly overwhelming!
Just so you know, I know Aikido, Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, and 5 other cool words, so bring it on! I have no fear! *quivers*
Just out of curiosity, how long is it before a newb is no longer a newb? Is there a quota of posts that must be posted or something? Or does he have to show he can make an intelligent argument? I'm afraid the 2nd one may be the harder of the 2.

It's kind of like the number of licks to the middle of a Tootsie Pop: the world may never know.
I certainly still feel like a newbie from time to time, having only recently stopped feeling like a n00b (see Papa Moose's progression).

saxon, going by Pop's list, I thought you qualified as goober.

That's more an honorific, really, than an official mark of status.

I just re-read that thread. I'm still unsure of where I fit in the newbie to non-newbie progression, but I think having met TomDavidson in person should count for something.
I remembered why I put that random link with my post. Maybe the "Dingle thread" needs ressurection.
Does Mack thwap newbies? or does having been thwaped by Mack elevate one's status as Ralphe-lovin' does?

::high fives equality::
Whats sad is I recognized that song within the first line.

Equality- that's exactly what I thought when I read Chaeron's thread.
And then I saw you had done it. I'm not an un-newbie, and so I guess I'm running for the hills, but...

AJ. You better believe she does! My ears are still ringing, 2 months later. Several were due to my forgetting her gender. After about 6 thwaps I finally remembered she was a girl.
Then I started baiting her, so those thwaps I asked for.

Only at Hatrack can someone quote Beauty and the Beast and not be ridiculed for it. I love that about this place.
