Yeah, this game is now the bane of my existance. Reminds me of othello, just more enthralling.

I know. I finally had a game that lasted about 20 minutes instead of the usual 2. I almost had him and then slowly he weasled his way back. I've got to figure out how that works...grrrr. [Wall Bash]

And again!! Once you figure it out and follow the virus' moves, you can nab him...this isn't saying that I wasn't HUGELY behind at some points during the game. [Smile]

YAYYYYY! I beat it on my second try!
Wow, what a surprisingly fun game. [Cool]

I won! It only took me like 5 minutes also. I think I just got lucky but I don't care. [Hat] To myself

I won after something like fifty or sixty tries this morning...Is there some way to make the spots turn the other way?

Got murdered on the first game, and then murdered the computer in the second game. But I played both game the same way.... [Confused]

If no one noticed, there was mention of a second version in development. Even better, the page also mentions allowing up to four people to play online... That could be interesting.

I'm starting to get where I win more often, but it's sure taking a lot of trouble...

I WON!

Once you win once, you keep winning.

This reminds me of a quote...

Not true, Chade, at least not consistently...

I finally won. Stupid game.

I won on my very first try, but I might have just been lucky.

Thank you very much for helping me stay up past 1 am on a school night, though.

[Grumble]

PLayed it a couple more times. Lost one. Won one. Losing seems to take a lot less time than winning does.

I've found that if I think about trying to surround him or try to plan my attack, I always lose. If I just attack him as fast as i can without thinking about it, I usually win. Strange. [Wink]

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

Ooh. It gets easier!

[Grumble] [Smile] [Grumble]

No it doesn't.

Dude, Icarus...go to bed!!! You have a JOB!!! And you live on the East Coast, so that means it's REALLY late. [Sleep] [Wink]

Just the opposite for me, Narnia...very strange indeed. [Confused]

Heh...I started playing and got an immediate win. That hadn't happened before...

I often find that half the occupied board is flashing back and forth between me and the AI, and when that starts there's no telling whose side it will end in favor of. I will say this--the AI often comes back from situations that I find deadly. A couple of times I've reduced it to a single pair and it's recovered because all my pieces were turned away from the territory it grabbed. I don't know how it does that...

Part of it is based on luck: your opening move. If your little arrow is pointing the wrong way, it could be three moves before you accomplish anything useful.

As far as the huge, board-changing moves, when I can't make an offensive move, I make a defensive one: severing a small chain off from the rest of 'em.

It isn't difficult once you learn to look for what the computers next move will be. you can always work defensively once you have a good idea what it will do. At least it seems to work for me.

Anyone know some other really addictive online games out there? 'Cause I'm kinda running low on my old standards.

Posted by Julie (Member # 5580) on :

*bump* This page must not die, I'm way too lazy to put this game in my favorite's folder. And to answer the question, there are many addicting games at pogo.com. My favs are poppit and word whomp. tumble bees is fun, too.

Chade, I can't tell what the computer will do at all, except that it will always try to take back territory you just took if it can.

Posted by peterh (Member # 5208) on :

Anyone have an actual strategy to this? I am getting obliterated...

Posted by Chade Fallstar (Member # 5581) on :

Macc, I just looked at which of the computer's pieces were in position to take mine. Then you just find which one will take the most spots and that's the one the computer will use. This game is still fun even though I've beaten it so many times. Maybe I am just simple minded.
