Mike, do you have a regular timetable by which you update the archive of Slash's AD&D game on your site? Last Wed's entry ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, and I'm incredibly curious about what will happen next. I can't wait to find out more details of Mission's relationship with this woman.

I don't actually have a regular timetable. The way I'm currently archiving is almost as labor intensive as it can get as I have to manually cut and paste everything by hand (fortunately I have a small script to HTML-ize it). I tried to write a cgi script to do everything but I couldn't make it smart enough so I gave up.

So the long and short is that I do the updates when I have a free moment at work and am not feeling too lazy. But I will be adding three or four days' worth by the close of business today (Pacific Time).

Oh, and as long as we're in a thread talking about my website, I'll take this opportunity to invite everyone to check it out, including the forum, which is no longer a practical joke.

[Edit: and in case anyone missed the location of the archives for Slash's game: http://www.sakeriver.com/game/

Cool. I'll just check in tomorrow then (I checked about a bizillion times yesterday).

It's a pretty cool site, by the way. I had a lot of fun reading through your movie reviews.

Thank you. Twice.

By the way, what's the significance of the site's name?

Posted by saxon75 (Member # 4589) on :

It's a loose translation of my last name.

There may be a bit of confusion as to what exactly the first word is. It's not "sayk" as in, "For Bob's sake!" It's "sah-keh" (or, if you must "sah-kay" but never "sah-kee"), as in rice wine.

I just assumed the latter. I wondered if you were a big sake fan or something. If you were too big of a sake fan, that would have explained why you hadn't posted any of the AD&D material this week!

Actually, I can't stand the stuff. It's a good thing the cups are so little. I'd be completely unable to deal with a bigger portion.

[Edit: Oh, and I just posted 9/4-9/8 to the archives.]

The main archive page was getting a little crowded, so I reorganized it. The current month's posts are now on the main page in descending order, with links to previous months below.

too late, saxon. I already associate the name of your website with an abudance of rice wine. [Wink]

<---- also likes Mike's website [Smile]

Hmmm... If not for the whole ALDH mutation thing, I might even try to get over the awful, awful taste. (Slash has been pointing out that I'm offending the ghosts of thousands of dead samurai every time I say that. It's even more ironic when you consider that my ancestors almost certainly include both samurai and sake brewers.)

Try being of Irish descent and allergic to alcohol.

<--- Part Irish, if you can believe it.

Hey, Mike, with Slash being sick, I assume that the AD&D game is on hold for the moment. Am I right in thinking that I should just settle back and wait for a week or two before checking the archive on sakeriver.com?

Posted by saxon75 (Member # 4589) on :

Yeah I've got a turn or two that I haven't posted yet, plus some random kibitzing, but I think you can assume no forward motion until Slash is better.

I expected as much, but it's good to know.
