Has anyone here seen the Simpsons where they go on vacation with a really bad RV? It’s a first season episode that at one point involves Homer actually buying this RV. The RV dealer (named Bob in this episode) is one of those sleazy used car archetype people. Everyone who comes into his store is a mark, and he plans to collect on them. He, of course, manages to trick Homer into buying this piece of junk based on the fact that Homer’s IQ is on par with that of garden zucchini.

When the Simpson family first walks into the RV dealership Bob recognizes them as a clear mark; people that are obviously going to spend money there if only because they’re too stupid to think of any alternatives. When he sees them he utters the phrase “Thank-you God”. He says it very uniquely, I can’t really describe it so I just hope you’ve seen it. [Wink] [Big Grin] Now every time something happens that’s positive, but not really extraordinary, that phrase with that intonation runs through my head.

A class lets out really early: “Thank-you God”. I accidentally do something right: “Thank-you God”. I’ve decided that when Bob says this he really means it in a non-blasphemous kind of way. He really sees each new customer as a gift from God. Kind of like there’s a little road going between him and His Lord, and every time something good comes down it to him, Bob just looks up and acknowledges the gift. “Thank-you God”.

I don’t really have a point in posting this… no question or real discussion. Maybe it’s just 1:05am getting to me. I don’t know, but there it is. [Cool]

I concur, Annie.

Oh, and I have seen that episode. I think. Possibly. Maybe. I don't know. [Smile]

Ilhamdu lillaah, Hobbes. Whenever I get something right in Arabic class, that's what I say. Minus the Hobbes.
