Reuters Sept.21, 2003 - 'Netizens report that the Dobie meme on Hatrack has at long last died a gruesome, ugly death. "We've been bludgeoning it for ages with every blunt object we can find", says one jatraquera who asked to remain nameless, "we zapped it and spanked it and cudgelled it and just when we think it's gone, it will spring back to life again and again. Thank the gods of breakfast and plumbing, now it's finally gone for good."

Always inane and pointless, the dobie meme began parasitizing the board sometime around 2002. Other online forums have shunned hatrack for fear of contagion. "Ornery has already caught the infection and we're pretty worried about Nauvoo too at this point", one source said.

Now that the meme, which we must be careful not to describe for fear of revival, was finally laid to its long rest today, jatraqueros everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief. "May the heavens be merciful and spare us any more dobies" says one jatraquero, expressing the general feeling of joy and relief.'

ak, if I ever wanted to be a minion, that post really pushes me over the top!

Any openings?

I don't have minions but you are welcome to join the growing group of my acolytes, in association with the galaxywide era of Anne Kate adulation which has recently been ushered in amidst much fanfare.

<touches Erik on the forehead> Welcome, new acolyte.

The dobie is not dead.

I have resurrected it.

Whoa! Can you heal the dingle too?

Posted by Scott R (Member # 567) on :

No, but the DINGO on the other hand (the one that choked on the baby's femur), is fine now.

Anyone notice the pervasive number of Dobies made today...?

Perhaps reports of its death were premature... O_o

I had nothing to do with that Ryuko! You can't pin it on me!

I think I'm glad I missed the phase of Hatrack where people got acquainted with Dobie (or whoever/whatever he/it is).

Reports of the Dobie meme death were greatly exaggerated.

Hear! Hear! I concur heartily with you Saxon!

The asian block (of this thread at least) finds fugu guilty of providing geek humor. Somebody buy that man a pocket protector.
