"Don't kick the ball to Dante Hall." Tom Jackson 9/27/03 (Prime Time)

They should have listened to Tom. [Big Grin]

I thought that was a Deion Sanders thing? By now it should be common sense. My father-in-law saw him playing, and he danced around and didn't get anywhere. He says 'Why do they do that?? Why not just run up the field?'. Then Dante breaks it for 93 yards. How often do kick returns win games?

That young man is really something. I just really enjoyed that Chief's game Sunday. Almost got goose bumps when he ran that kick back.

It was impressive IF you ignored (like the refs) all the clipping penalties on the return. I counted at least 3 blocks in the back.

I hope the refs start paying more attention to that because their non-call won that game for the chiefs.

Tick, the record for touchdown returns (punt, kickoff, interception, and fumble) is 18 in a career (Dion Sanders). Dante has had 7 in the last 10 games. (Oh, and 8 of Dions were interception returns and one was a fumble recovery td, neither of which Dante does. Dante's have all been punt and kickoff returns. Yes, 7 in the last 10 games.)

The record touch down returns in a season is 4. Dante has 4 so far this year and has 11 more games to go.

The "longest streak" for touchdown returns was two consecutive games. Dante broke it last week with three consecutive games and then broke that record this week, making it 4 touchdown returns in 4 consecutive games.

The poor boy is shy, however, and this media attention is just killing him. [Frown]

I knew the numbers, but thank you Kayla. [Wink]

Traveler, you a Broncos fan? I live in Buffalo, you don't have to tell us how bad calls can lose games. Were the blocks that near to Dante that they would've made a difference?

Note: I thought Deion said 'Don't kick the ball to Dante Hall', not that he had any of these records. [Wink]

Actually I'm not a Broncos fan...I'm a Vikings fan. So..I'm hoping we kick some bronco butt in a couple weeks.

The blocks in question did impact the play and in most returns would of been flagged. I think the refs were caught up in watching the run and were not paying attention to the blocking.

Take a look at ESPN and watch the highlights...you will probably see a couple.

Haven't seen the replays on his return. Don't want to if the only purpose is to second guess officials. I am not into that.

He made the run; it counts.

I saw the replay several times and there was at least one crucial block in the back. There were probably others but the last one right before he broke loose definitely ended up scoring a TD for KC.

Vermeil: Clip could have been called on Hall return.

For you, Traveler and newfoundlogic. [Wink]

And don't forget Rod Smart's 100-yard kick off return for a touchdown in the Carolina-Saints game.

Hall, he's a phenom, though. Amazing, just simply amazing. Clip or not (and there's at least one callable clip per fielded return).

It's football related, but not to the above. I was reading the news on last night's game on Yahoo, and this caught my eye:

quote:
"They beat our butts," Falcons quarterback Doug Johnson said. "I wouldn't want someone to take credit away from me if I whipped somebody's butt."
However, Doug Johnson's choice of words in the actual interview shown on Sportscenter was a bit more, uh, colorful. Is that right to change the words without any show of that? I'm not familiar with how far editors would go without putting it in parentheses or some such.

Oh, and graywolfe - you're lucky to still have that lead. It won't last. [Evil]
