Alright, people: do you play footsie with someone, or do you play footsies with someone?

I'm kinda bad at reading signals but...are you coming on to me? [Smile]
I'm not that kind of guy, I don't care what you've heard.
Anyway, I've always heard "footsie".

ha ha...I'd say "footsie". Now where did this question come from?? [Wink]

Posted by Hobbes (Member # 433) on :

No 's'.

[EDIT: at the end that is...]

I think it would follow the same rule as other...hmmm...game... Who says, "I play soccer s ? It should be "footsie".

Edit-I put one too many "s"'s there...

No one touches my feet.

NO ONE.

No one wants to. [Razz]

My sentiments exactly.

But for those who do indulge, it's footsie.

Posted by Hobbes (Member # 433) on :

Does that mean that you don't want them to, or they don't want to?

Well.

If you touch the bottoms of my feet, I kick. They're so sensitive that it physically hurts when someone touches them. As a result, I reflexively kick.

My podiatrist in high school learned the hard way.

I warned him.

Does it hurt to hike then? [Frown]

Footsie.

Crap, I thought a language poll du jour would be in French.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Mac, given that your feet are so sensitive, it may simply be that they're waiting for the right person. [Wink]

I've always said "footsies," but Ruth insists it's "footsie." Unfortunately, the dictionary agrees with her. I just wanted to justify my oddity by finding out if anyone else said it the wrong way. Apparently not. [Grumble]

Je suis desolee qu'il n'y a aucun de francais, Annie.

Perhaps several instances of "footsie" could be considered "footsies" (plural). So it would be a word then, wouldn't it?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

TOM!

*scandalized*

Everyone I know, myself included says "footsies," so you're not the only one Jon Boy... I've never heard it without the last 's' and it just sounds wrong to me.

Posted by sarcasticmuppet (Member # 5035) on :

Oh great Risuena. All Jon Boy needed was one person who said it 'footsies' and he'd never change. [Big Grin]

Footsies.

Wanna play a game?

Posted by Eruve Nandiriel (Member # 5677) on :

It's "footsie"

And it's kinda gross to have someone else's nasty feet on you....

While you're taking s's off (I know there was a conversation about not putting an appostrophe to pluralize, but what DO you do when you want to pluralize a letter?) what do you do about chess? Would you play che? ches? Might as well stick with chess.

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

But "chess" isn't plural.

I've never (until just now) heard or seen someone use the word "footsies" before. It's "footsie". ...I think. [Wink]

Definitely footsie.

Hey! That tickles!

*looks around suspiciously* Who was that?
