i just thought it'd be neat to find out everyones thoughts one who all's going to the super bowl. yes, im well aware that it is early in the season but still.
1. Browns < out of the slight chance we might do well this year. doesnt look like it though, we lost to the bengals, GAH!
2. Vikings <may actually do something this year

Since I live just 1/2 or so north of Cincy, I am going to go out on a limb and pick the Bengals to win the Super Bowl. Don't hold me to which year.

My bets, Minnesota will knock off Carolina in the NFC Championship.
In the AFC, Tennessee will sneak by the KC Chiefs.

My reasonings:
The Vikes have got the mojo this year, Moss is acting like he should (perhaps Chris Carter straightened him out in a late night phone call) and Culpepper and Ferotte look strong. The running game is still good enough to sell it and the defense must be doing something right, or, at least, close enough to right. Carolina (my personal fave) will probably grind their way into and through the playoffs, knocking off unbalanced teams along the way. Won't get it done against the Vikes, though.
In the AFC, Kansas City is a juggernaut and Vermeil may just see the glory he has so richly deserved over the years. He's a "third time the charm" coach and this is his third contract year with third team... forget the star players, this is a team that plays as a team. Therein lies success. The problem is, Super Bowls are generally won by quarterbacks and Air McNair is as good as they get at this time. He's got every tool he needs to win and a defense that's scrappy and strong on the other side of the ball. And Anderson is about the best kicker of all time (Kasay someday will be) and that does mean a lot in the Conference Championship games. The Chiefs will play Goliath to McNair's Davidian Titans.
But hey, the Bengals aren't statistically out of it yet, so it's really anyone's ball game. Except for maybe the hapless Cardinals and apparently the Atlanta Vicktims... errr Falcons.

As an ardent fan of the Kansas City chiefs for the last... oh, twenty years... and having watched them buckle every time we make it to the playoffs...
Well suffice it to say that may SuperBowl picks are the Chiefs and the Vikings. It would be a pretty even game, but as long as the Chief's defense plays well (and Dante Hall of course picks up a lot of the defensive slack around here) I think we should have the upper hand.
The Raiders are about to be destroyed in... three hours!

Although I live in Oakland, I had always been a lukewarm Raiders fan (if that -- I basically lost interest in them when they moved south). I like the Niners. The Niners are my guys.
But up until this season I still marginally followed the silver and black. However I have become so completely turned off by the Raiders' thuggishness (from the Romo incident to the Davis lawsuits), that I decided that I needed a different AFC team to root for. So while the Raider nation may call me all sorts of vulgar names, I've decided to throw my lot in with the Chiefs -- mainly because of Tony G. and Scott Fujita (Cal alumns).
Which means that tonight I'll watch them stomp the Raiders and have no regrets afterwards.

Well, if you thought the Giants imploded, look at my poor Redskins, good lord, that team is imploding now, at this very second, I think I can hear it. Hell, Lavar cried today on the radio in D.C. (I didn't hear it, I heard reports).
And wow, Zalmoxis, you're in Oakland? I live about four miles from the Oakland Coliseum in Alameda.
Anyway, the NFC will come down to this:
Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and St. Louis.
No to Carolina, their offense simply can't keep up with Minnesota, and St. Louis, and Tampa Bay won't lose to Carolina more than once this year.
Right now Minnesota has home field, but something tells me that St. Louis will find a way back to the title game. However I'm 99% sure one of the three will play in the Super Bowl.
In the AFC it's more complicated:
The east simply is too injured or too lacking in key area's to send a team to the title game. If Fiedler were playing better, than maybe Miami, New England has lost to many assets to make a run. In the North, Pittsburgh simply is too weak in the secondary. In the South Indy and Tennessee smell like potentail AFC Champs, particularly with the way Denver is playing, but you can't count Kansas City out, because Kansas City has always played like world beaters at home. Denver might have been if they had competant quarterbacking, they don't and that's that.
In the AFC it's Tennessee if McNair can stay healthy, or Indy if Manning can finally come through in the playoffs, or Kansas City if Trent Green doesn't implode and they hold home field.
Right now I see Indy as the AFC champ, as bizarre as that may sound.
What a great superbowl that would be, Indy and St. Louis, very dynamic offenses, opportunistic defenses. Very, very interesting.

Chiefs 8-0, Denver lacking a future at QB, Raiders implosion continuing, and the Chargers are this years Bengals of the past 2 years... You can pretty much lock in the Chiefs as AFC West champs. They will have some competition in the Titans, but with the Cheifs leading the league in take-aways by far (7 vs the Bills!?) they'll bring home the victory for the AFC Championship.

Titans VS Vikings, Titans winning in a shootout. KC and St. Louis will both make a run for it, but will fall just short.
No matter what happens, the games will be great to watch, considering the explosive offenses this year.

The Show-Me Bowl would be nice, but your suggested outcome is WAY off.
Kurt Warner (following your story of him being in the game at all) gets intercepted on the last play of the game by Dante Hall, who was on defense on ACCIDENT, because the Rams rushed to the line of scrimmage to get the final play off after having received a punt on the 20 yard line... Dante runs the interception in for a touchdown, bringing the final score to Chiefs: 42 Rams: 6.

Your outcome is way off. Warner fumbles after getting his 4,628th concussion, and Dante Hall comes off the bench to return it for 2 touchdowns (that's how kickass he is). However, coach Billick of the Ravens is standing on the sidelines, so the play gets reviewed and overturned 3 times, giving the Rams the win.
