I just got my paycheck this week and I have an extra 60+ dollars to spend on a game.

What do you people recommend? [Smile]

PS I beat Halo at on a friends XBOX and I thought Knight of the Old Republic was awful after renting on Gamefly (great business btw).

So, besides those two, what do you think? [Smile]

PPS. If anybody is up for a Tetris Worlds Live game, email me sometime. [Smile]

Who CARES if you beat Halo, GET THE FRIGGIN GAME! Multiplayer action! FUN!

Or...

Soul Caliber 2

Posted by Pat (Member # 879) on :

Knights of the Old Republic is the second best reason to get an X-Box. The first is Halo.

The thing about Halo is that it's the best game for multiplayer fun. That part of Halo NEVER gets old.

XBox has games other than halo? O_o

Enter the Matrix is a fun one, on any console.

Posted by Wetchik (Member # 3609) on :

Yeah, but I want something new. KOTOR was absolutely one of the worst games I ever played. It was more disappointing then when I bought Nintendo 64 back in the day.

Posted by beatnix19 (Member # 5836) on :

I feel your pain. I'm having a really hard time finding games I want to play for my x-box as well.

Posted by Pat (Member # 879) on :

KOTOR is tough to play when you're not used to RPG's. Once you get the hang of it, it's wildly addicting.

Posted by Wetchik (Member # 3609) on :

I understood how the game worked in about ten minutes. I just didn't like it.

I know you can percieve as impossible that somebody hates a game that you love so much. They must not be understanding the game right?

[Smile]

I just didn't like KOTOR. I liked Diablo II far more. But that's PC games. [Smile]

Freedom Fighters, its hilarious, and a great shooter.

Get Halo. That is the only reason to buy a crappy x-box.

Posted by Wetchik (Member # 3609) on :

XBOX isn't crappy! They have a lot more capabilities then you would know.... [Smile]

Their performance can be... ooomphed in the same way an upgradable computer can. [Smile]

Posted by beatnix19 (Member # 5836) on :

I agree that X-box has a lot of capabilities, but unfortunately there are not enough games that take advantage of what it has to offer.

Right not both my PS2 and Gamecube have many more playable/enjoyable titles to choose from.

Posted by prolixshore (Member # 4496) on :

More than I would know?

Have they done something to them that I didn't know about? I'm pretty sure I already know.

Edit, what he said, not enough good games.

I didn't mean that you wouldn't know. I just meant that most people (just know remembering that you know some tech stuff) don't know that you can modify them just like a computer, because that's what they are. [Smile]

That's funny, bad games makes the system bad? Wouldn't that make the developers unable to make a game good enough to take advantage of the great system that is the XBOX?

I'm sorry, I like my XBOX, and when you come in here saying XBOX sucks, that's kind of insulting to me because I like my XBOX.

Posted by beatnix19 (Member # 5836) on :

I agree, i like my x-box. I just don't think there are enough games to play on it. That was my point, not that the system itself sucked. The reason I bought mine was because I know that there will eventually be some very awesome games. Just not yet.

Posted by Pat (Member # 879) on :

You can't understand the beauty that is KOTOR until you spent at least a few hours at it, not 10 minutes.

Why don't you go buy 'Barbie's Rocking roller skate playdate? '

That sounds about your level.

Posted by prolixshore (Member # 4496) on :

Please tell me that's not a real game.

[No No]

So, because I don't like a game that you do, you're somehow at a higher level than me? [Roll Eyes]

I didn't like KOTOR. That means the game isn't any good in my mind. That doesn't mean that there is something wrong with me. [Taunt] [Wink]

You make me feel like I'm in first grade again.

Kid 1:"Mortal Kombat is the best game ever!"
Kid 2:"Donkey Kong is better!"
1:"Nuh uuuh!"
2:"Meet me at the bike racks after school punk!"

Ah, memories. [Smile]

Oh ha ha. Very funny Pat. [Taunt]

Posted by beatnix19 (Member # 5836) on :

I personally have never played KotoR but I think it looks pretty good. But I really think your arguement is funny. I don't see how you can be faulted for your opinion, because well, it's your opinion. but you should definately keep calling each other names and bringing lame barbie games into the mix. I'll keep an eye out for the recess monitor.

on a more serious note...

I can see how you might not like KotoR. It reminds me of when I bought Morrowind. All the reviews said it was great and everyone I talked to loved it. I played it and played it but could never get into it. I finally traded it in and decided it was an awful game.

Morrowind was great! Let's fight to the death over it.

Wow. This one is better than my Mary Kate and Ashley Olson Be cool at school game. I mean, it's not every day you get Barbie to roller skate in a circle while she checks her makeup.

I thought an argument was a mutual thing. I'm not arguing with Pat. He's trying to make it one because I don't like KOTOR.

I just wanted some suggestions for games. I didn't create this thread to be childishly insulted.

Pat, STFU [Razz] I won't pass judgement on KoTOR because I haven't played it, but if you continue to be a troll, I will be forced to hunt you down and put gum in your hair. Consider this your only warning.

Wetchik, I would definitely say Soul Calibur II is one to look into. I'm not sure what's next in the GameFly queue, but if I play any better ones in the next week or two, I'll let you know.

Pat's just trying to spread the word that Barbie is about more than just clothes, shoes and makeup.

Although he likes the makeup too.

Oh yeah, and the shoes. Wait till you see Pat's new Halo mods. Fabuuuuuulouuuus. Isaac Mizrahi meets Sargent Savage. And don't get him started on Manolo Blahnik's new line of combat boots.

And how can use say you own an XBOX if you don't own Halo?

Posted by Wetchik (Member # 3609) on :

The XBOX was a gift. Halo wasn't part of that gift. [Frown]

It will when I have more money. I enjoy the game, but I have beaten it on normal so I know how the story ends. Kind of pointless beyond then if you don't anybody else who has the XBOX like me. [Smile]

I've never played halo so I haven't "experianced" this mind altering game so maybe my opinion can help.

I have panzer dragon on sega saturn and I think that it's awesome, and from what I've heard panzer dragon orta is just as good.

I also have perfect dark on n64 and I like that alot too, but I haven't sen any previews of perfect dark zero.

If you're into it, GTA 3 and vice city are supposed to come out on X-Box this month.

Posted by Zalmoxis (Member # 2327) on :

Face it, JB. You'll never be able to rival me until you brush up on your fashion knowledge.

Better run out and buy the latest copy of Japanese Vogue and send in your subscription card for Women's Wear Daily. Cuz for now...

Curse my lack of fashion awareness!

Teach me your ways, Zal. Teach me how to be stylish and fashion-savvy. Teach me how to be walk the fine line between being well-dressed and being effeminate. Teach me to be a metrosexual.

Posted by Zalmoxis (Member # 2327) on :

Now that was just beautiful. I hate to admit this, but I think you're getting funnier, Jon Boy.

Posted by Zalmoxis (Member # 2327) on :

So for your first lesson:

Before you can even think about metrosexuality, you need to master classic British menswear.

Back to the original subject, you should save the sixty bucks and buy Deus Ex 2 next month. If you're absolutely desperate and/or an adrenaline junky who can't stand games with dialogue, go buy Crimson Skies: HRTR.

Panzer Dragon Orta is, indeed, a very good game. However, I can only take about 20 minutes at a stretch, because it's very frustrating at times.

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

Oh and I forgot to mention Phantasy star online, I have the gamecube version and it has a few differences. the ones I can think of are these:

different controller(duh)
on x-box you don't get the GBA minigames
however, on x-box you do get voice chat online

I don't play mine online simply because I don't like paying fees to play games online, But I still find it fun.

Posted by Human (Member # 2985) on :

KOTOR? Halo? Phantasy Star Online? What are you guys thinking? Panzer Dragoon Orta. The only good XBox game.

Posted by Mr.Funny (Member # 4467) on :

An Xbox game that has been just released that is supposed to be really good is Crimson Skies. I haven't got it yet, but the screenshots look awesome. [Big Grin] Also it is supposed to be the best Xbox Live game of the year. Unfortunately, I don't have Xbox live... [Grumble]

Oh and I think you need an active x-box live account to play PSO on x-box at all. I've also heard that hacking is much more rampant on the x-box ver.

I'm pretty sure that Phantasy star online ep. 3 is coming only to gamecube, i'm not sure about PSO ep. 1&2 plus.

I cant believe nobody has talked about Soldier of Fortune II. That is a great shooter game and is very realistic. I still love to play the story and the multiplayer. Plus, the guns that are used are simply devasting. You will love it!

P.S Perfect Dark Zero? Is this for xbox and when does it come out? ::drooling at that prospect::

That's a run-to-the-rocket-launcher game in my opinion. [Dont Know] Though I have only played the PC version, I don' think the Xbox version is much different.

I'm playing Knights of the Old Republic right now, and (IMO) it's one of the best RPGs ever made. In fact, I'd put it up there with Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment.

Posted by Nick (Member # 4311) on :

Well, I just got the game, and I bought it because I just found that it was better the second time. I have no idea why. I'm about ready to go to the Sith girl's party on Taris. Any tips Tom? Or anybody for that matter?

Posted by Nick (Member # 4311) on :

Well, I'm shocked. It was awful at first, because you don't have any control over the combat, and that was a big issue why I didn't like it at first. Now I'm captivated by the game. It's 1:20 and I'm still playing at the wee hours of the night. [Embarrassed] [Dont Know]

Everyone needs to buy Full Spectrum Warrior when it comes out. That game is going to 0VVn!

Posted by Lime (Member # 1707) on :

Yes, yes - Ninja Gaiden!

Jeez, I wish I had an Xbox... if only for Halo 2. Sadly, if I were to buy a console right now, it'd be a Gamecube. It's got more games that both me and my wife enjoy/would like to buy, and it's cheaper than an Xbox.

*sigh* Maybe a decent Xbox emulator will come out so I can play Halo 2 without putting down $200 for another game system.

Posted by Strider (Member # 1807) on :

ummm...just a reminder that Ninja Gaiden is coming out soon. [Smile]

Psychonauts is a game i think is going to be awesome.

from ign:

quote:
Surreal action adventure game starring Raz, a powerful young cadet at psychic summer camp. While working on his levitation merit badge, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. In order to foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the minds of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and mental demons. He does all this while continuing to earn his psychic merit badges in Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Pyrokinesis and more. Players run, bounce, float, climb, swing and sneak while defeating monsters, lunatics and demons with the Psi-Blast, a mental burst of energy that will banish nightmares.
The idea just sounds so intriguing. Each level is a mind of a different mental patient. So i'm sure each level is not only wholly different from any other one, but also totally insane! [Smile]

And Fable comes out this summer. And from everything i've read and seen Fable will blow KOTOR out of the water in the "best RPG ever" category.

2 words, multiplayer HALO

get online, 4 x-boxes, 4 people on each one. Blood gulch........ahhhhh, good times......

Posted by Nick (Member # 4311) on :

Well Salaam, if you think about it, that's a lot of money.
4 Xboxes with two included controllers: 4($175)
4 TV's: 4($150)
4 copies of Halo: 4($50)
Since we have the eight included controllers: 8($30)
100 based router: 30
5 cat5 cables: $50
So you get this addition:

700+ Xboxes
600+ TVs
200+ Halo games
240+ Controllers
30+ Router
50 Cat5 cables

= $1820.00
[Eek!]

Sure, playing with all that equipment can be fun, but you have to have some rich friends... [Razz]

Posted by Mr.Funny (Member # 4467) on :

Well, if everyone already owns most of the equipment (Xboxs, controllers, HALO, TVs) then all that is really neededed is the networking equipment and transportation to get everything to the same place. Since you would have 16 people, only 1 in four need to have Xboxs and other accessories.

Posted by Nick (Member # 4311) on :

I personally don't have four Xbox controllers, and I don't have a TV that I'm comfortable taking out of my house. It's an old Zenith, but still. It's a heavy sucker. [Smile]

I'm not saying run out and buy all the equipment but if you have friends who already have controllers or a few who have more than two it can be easy. Even just using one box and hooking up through gamespy and playing with people you don't know is fun. and remember....
get invisibility and bonk the noobs, so much fun. they have no idea what hit 'em
