I'ts 11.15 p.m. and I just got back from the police station. The reason being, my car got stolen today. Sure, I wanted to sell it anyway, and I wouldn't get much for it (it was a '74 VW Passat, and yes, they already produced Passats in '74), so I'm not very heart-broken. I find it kinda funny.
But the poor poor car will probably be sold for spare parts sniff sniff and I didn't even take its photo. Sniff.

Man, I wish I had your luck. I've been trying to sell my car, and nobody has even given me an offer! I'd take "it's free" over "I'm never going to sell this thing" anyday. I never lock my car doors (heck, they can't be locked), and nobody has ever even tried to break in.

Kama--I don't know whether to laugh or to cry for you---I supposed I'll do both
As an avid VW enthusiast--I must cry over the fate of the car
Plus, I didn't know they made passats that long ago--but then again, VW sold a lot of different cars in Europe that were never sold here.

Here's a hint on how to get your car stolen.
They had Hawain night where my brother worked one day. He wore my fathers brightest flowered Hawain shirt. After the party he changed and threw the shirt in the back seat.
That's where it stayed.
A few days later, he parked his old car and went to work.
Someone stole the car.
When they were caught because my brother recognized them walking down the street a few months later, wearing that stupid shirt.
They stole the car to get the shirt. They sold the car for parts, but kept the ugly shirt.

I did lock the door - however, I put up a notice saying "For sale" on it. Someone must have thought the price was veeeeery low
There are two options now:
1) it is found abandoned somewhere in a forest
2) it is never found and I get the insurance money, which will probably be more than I would get for the car anyways, considering I've been trying to sell it for a couple of months with no success

I used to have a car - ugly little brown Pinto - that I kept trying to get somebody to steal. I would leave it unlocked. Leave the windows down. Leave the keys in it, for Pete's sake. Nobody ever touched it. Well, I can guess why. But it was really frustrating, you know?

How much I paid for my lumina: 500 dollars Cars actual worth: 1000 dollars Price the insurance company gave me: 2200 dollars.
New Cars actual worth: 3600 Price I paid (including money from insurance): 2800
I essentially paid 1100 dollars for a 3600 dollar car.
Now, THAT'S funny!

It might just be worth it to fly T down to Orlando the next time I buy a car.
