Come on, you know you want to!

Let's talk about n00bs, spelling, hugs, and just being too . . . darn . . . nice!

Let's collect all the snippy little comments in one place, one board, one thread, so it's easier to remember all the reasons Hatrack has gone downhill!

This will be a great way for me to work through the absolutely awful mood I'm in today!

And you are not a suffering third-world citizen. You are french! You don't feel pain and anguish living in our subhuman slums!

Well...now I will cross the street, get a suntan on the beach and drink some coconut water.

There are a few I like. The standards are good, and I don't mind the inclusion of [No No] and [Cry] .

I have a particular aversion, though, to:

The enslaved California Grape ( [Hail] )
The Gay Train ( [The Wave] )
and
The post-apocalyptic mutants hanging around a fire barrel ( [Group Hug] ).

Oh, and the most hated of all smiles:

The Geriatrics Disco Ward: [Party]

Yeah, I'll agree with you there. Makes no sense. Post count doesn't really mean anything anyway, so why let some arbitrary number keep you from posting?

I generally find it irritating when people have myriad usernames. I've had a couple over the years, and just the other day created a throw away sign in for a specific joke, so maybe I'm a hypocrite, but what can you do?

I had no idea Megachirops was an overconfident cheerleader!

I hate how fast the board changes. You lurk, post a bit, disappear and a lot of new people are there.

Oh yeah, and all the people who don't take the time to spell their words correctly, especially words like grammar and devastate (sometimes spelled "devistate" - I hate that! I just wanna reach into the 'puter and scramble its guts for showing me that!).

Oh, and I hate how you sometimes post funny, sarcastic stuff and people take it seriously, getting all huffy (better than being Schwinn, I guess).

I think the lengths of the political/homosexual/religious threads are nice reminders of how different we are in terms of ignorance, viewpoints, and stubbornness.

Ralphie, I can't bring up feelings for it either way.

I'd rather have annoying smilies than Leet speak and bad grammar, because they are avoidable and require no brain power. I resent the time needed to decode 13-year-old ramblings, and appreciate the party smiley as a sign to not read closely. It's okay.

I'm going to 100 percent wholeheartedly agree with my pal Ralph here.

I hate the new smilies. Did we really need to have more ways to skip typing out our emotions? It seems they're now an excuse for the 13 year olds to say something without saying anything.

I hate online hugs. Hate them.

These two items will lead to the ultimate destruction of the rack as we know it.

I'm with you on the smilies, Ralphie, though I have to add my dislike of this one: [Wall Bash]

What's worse than a party smiley in every post is when people insist on putting eight of them in every post.

But the creepy geriatric party does suck. So depressing, like a Florida beach in winter. So much wrinkly skin and clicky teeth. Yuck.

edit: DAMN IT!!!! I did it again. I didnt see that stupid second page and posted replying to the last page. AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

Anna, don't worry about it. I was half afraid that bumping this--in this manner--would make you feel bad, but it wasn't my intent. I was searching for a post Celia referred to in another thread--which I never did find--and I was reading through different old threads, and it seemed funny to me when I came across this one that I had mixed up Anna with Annie in my mind at some point. Anyway, I don't think you knew me particularly well at that point, particularly when I was posting under the Megachirops handle, and the whole reason I was posting under that handle was to exorcise the snarkiness that I had been feeling anyway, so it's understandable that I made the wrong impression.
