A great big thanks and huge hug [Group Hug] to all of you who showed up at various signings this week and made Scott and I feel great. It was wonderful to be out on the road and meet friends. In the places where the big groups met -- after you left the bookstore people mentioned to us they thought you guys were way cool. I told them it was true. Just wanted all of you who actually admitted to being Hatrackers to our face to know we appreciated feeling like we were among friends. Two weeks on the road can get awfully old and you helped make it better.
Thanks,
Kristine

[Big Grin] I got to see you twice, that was more than enough reward for me. [Smile] You two are great, I'm sure we can promise that we'll provide the same function at any future signing tour. [Wink] [Smile]

Thank YOU Kristine for being so inviting and welcoming all of us that came. I doubt there are many other signing tours that are so much fun and where the people bring us chocolate and hang around to talk. [Smile] I had a wonderful time, so I'm glad that you guys did too.

I have to tell you that coming to the signing and seeing all of my fellow hatrackers was the most fun I'd had in a long time.

It had the same feel and fellowship as those late night dorm conversations that last until the wee hours of the morning.

Must be nice to be back home after two weeks hopping from signing to signing. [Smile]

Thanks for giving all of us an opportunity to see/meet you two. And thanks, as always, for Hatrack.

Kristine, any chance that you and OSC will make it out to Australia anytime soon? [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I promise I'll come to the signing if you do! [Wink]

Thank YOU and OSC for coming out, Kristine! The PacNW signing was the most fun I've had in a long time, and getting to know the faces of some of my favorite people from Hatrack was awesome! You and OSC are easily among the kindest and most generous people I've had the pleasure of meeting.

Hear hear! I can guarentee at least two more attendees... [Big Grin]

(BTW EG - have you seen Crystal City out anywhere here? I've checked most of the big bookstores and can't find it...)

Nope. Although I have noticed that in the last three years, the average Aussie bookstore has gone from stocking two OSC books to stocking 10 or 15. That's gotta be good [Smile]

Chocolate?! I don't remember any chocolate.

Just kidding. It was great to meet you both, Kristine. Thanks for making my first signing an experience I want to duplicate.

We appreciate that you two went on tour. The signing was even better than I had hoped. Come back to the PacNW sometime--I'm sure you would have plenty of volunteers to show you around Portland. Come in the summer when it's nice, though. Oregon is wonderful when you can see the sun!

I definately think that it should be US thanking YOU for going on the tour, not the other way around. You guys were so cool! I really enjoyed talking with everyone and getting my book signed by Scott. Plus, it gave everyone an excuse to get together. I think we owe you a big thanks and a big RIGHT ON! (borrowing from saxon, of course)

I agree with every sentiment expressed in this thread, except the ones that necessitate actually being there, and I need to add at least one of my own.

That being... Please come to MN next time!!! [Big Grin]

Aunt Kristine, I am so glad to hear you availed yourselves of the hospitality of various hatrackers during this tour. Please if you ever come to Birmingham again, let me take you out to dinner. I know a lot of Hatrackers in the area would love to join us. Hatrack get-togethers are always the greatest fun, in my experience, and with you there too, well, I can't imagine anything better! So, in the course of your travels, do remember that you now have family in every state. [Smile]

Thank you! It was great fun to be able to see you guys in Portland. My friends all thought I was crazy for going to meet people I talked to on the Internet, but I had a lot of fun. You two are great.

I don't think a forum ever had a nicer administrator.

And not after I leave this time! I was quite distraught when I found out you guys were going to Oregon after 3 years of my complaining, after I left the state for college. There'd be a nice big crowd of people here on the Beloit campus that would love for you to visit, or Madison if you must go to a larger city, please? [Wink]

Kristine, it was such a pleasure to get to meet you!! I thought I'd be so nervous, but really, I felt very at home, and a lot of that must have been you and Scott. Thank you so much for coming to the PacNW!

And thanks fellow Hatrackers for making going to Portland so much fun! I had the best time! It'll be one of my favorite memories for a long time to come.

Mind coming to Baton Rouge anytime now? I know a ton of people who wouldn't mind meeting the author of one of their favorite books.

I'm with you Kat. But even though I didn't get to go to any signings, or meet any Jatraqueros, thanks for doing the tour, and making all my friends ecstatically happy! [Smile]

You did meet that one guy, what was his name, Marak? Or Mark? Or something like that. Well anyways, he's a jatraquero.

[Razz] to fugu...

Yes, and I had a fabulous time, thank you! [Big Grin]

But KACard, I wish I could have come to a signing, please ignore fugu's comment. [Razz]

Thanks, Kristine, to the two of you for a most enjoyable signing. I was at the Lexington, KY signing this past Tuesday night, and though the acoustics could have been better in that place, it was most enjoyable to hear OSC's thoughts on the craft of writing. I couldn't make the Cincinnati signing because I was at an animé convention in Covington KY on Friday night. It was a most enjoyable surprise to find when I stepped into the hotel elevator on Saturday morning that you and Scott had stayed in the same hotel Friday night. When we got out of the elevator, my friends were duly impressed when I pointed out: "You know who that was? Orson Scott Card!" [Cool]

BTW, this is my first post to Hatrack, though I have been reading these forums off and on since I registered back in August. I'll try to post more now that I've finished The Crystal City. As my holiday schedule permits. [Smile]

<sends siren song ...>

You've got a friend in Texas

Remember the Alamo

Best little whorehouse in... (oh wait, forget that one).

Texas is for lovers

Everything is bigger in Texas

If it ain't in Texas, you don't need it!

Got Texas?

You never know . . . after all, Uncle Orson is the one who likes to pick up women in bars by telling them he's an author! [Wink]

(I can't be the only one who read that article, can I?)

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

No, Ic, I read it too.

But I have to wonder at your fascination with it. You've referred to it before.

*eyes Icarus with suspicion* When were you last in NC?
