I just heard this story which disturbs me greatly. When is the last anyone has heard from our Paul? Things there sound like they are deteriorating. Oh, I wish he could hurry home!

Washington Post report.

NPR said something else happened there today, that some sort of ambush on a convoy happened, and the U.S. forces returned fire.

*shiver* I shouldn't have read that. Every time I read stories like that I want to choke the life out of Iraqis, and that's not fair.

I'm sure Paul is ok. His duty never sounded like it entailed driving between bases in civilian vehicles.

I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away

How long?
How long must we sing this song?
How long?
How long?

I saw Paul online sometime over the weekend (I don't remember which day). I talked to him last week several times. Hopefully he'll pop online again this afternoon and put our minds at rest about him.

::nods:: He hasn't been online since the day before the attacks, but he should be okay. ...I hope so, at least. Either way, I spent all of church yesterday praying for his safety so hopefully that will merit for something. [Frown]

Rats! I keep missing him these days. I'll email him tomorrow. Glad he's ok though, and hope no more icky headlines for a while.

I'm so glad he's okay! I heard the news on NPR early this morning when I was more than half asleep. I thought, when I remembered it later, that I had been dreaming it but I saw it again in the paper. The 101st seems to be getting hit pretty badly.

My heart goes out to their families.

That headline scared me, too. I'm glad Paul's okay. And I hope he stays that way.

Stay safe, Paul!

You know what really makes me sad, though? We're all relieved it wasn't someone we care about. But there are families out there tonight who won't have that relief. I'm glad it didn't happen to us. I wish that it wouldn't happen to anyone.

I, too, am glad Paul's alright. Stay that way, mon ami!

It's so easy for me within my sheltered and rather self-centered life to forget that all of this is going on. I hate that. [Frown] My heart and prayers go out to all of those men and women serving our country. Thanks for reminding me.

Paul, I'm glad you're ok.
