I just got done with a Three Musketeers. I've been mopping up a bag of candy all day, and yet I remain thin and slender. So what are you guys eating right now?

Posted by Maccabeus (Member # 3051) on :

Nothing this very second, but I just finished a Hershey bar and milk.

I'm chewing on my inner lip, don't know if that counts.

Maybe I'm a cannibal deep down inside, maybe we all are.

Posted by Book (Member # 5500) on :

Sweet, we all are eating chocolate.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Desu's inner lip is made of chocolate?

COOL!

Posted by Book (Member # 5500) on :

I'd say it's safe to say that Desu is entirely made of chocolate. And I'm basing this on absolutely nothing.

That's not good. I just finished reading that cannibal thread (disgusting) and now this thread title looks to me like "Who are you eating right now?"

I'm eating a sandwich.

I haven't even gotten halfway through my mustard collection and I'm almost out of Thanksgiving leftovers.

It's clearly time to roast another turkey.

Annie, you went to the Chinatown in what city? Mangoes are yummy.. I don't think I've ever had mango chicken though.

Does this look like it would make the dish you enjoyed Annie?

quote:
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme or 3/4teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 pinch cayenne pepper
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 1 lb
2 teaspoons margarine (becel)
1 ripe but firm mango, peeled and cut into chunks
2 green onions, thinly sliced
salt
1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander
1/2 limes, juice of
1. In a small dish stir together spices.
2. Sprinkle both sides of chicken breasts with spice mixture.
3. Heat margarine in a large nonstick frypan over medium high heat.
4. Add chicken breasts and cook, turning occasionally, until both sides are deep golden brown and chicken is no longer pink inside, about 10 to 15 minutes.
5. Add mango and green onions.
6. Cook, stirring, just until heated through, about 1 minute.
7. Remove from heat.
8. Sprinkle with salt, coriander and squeeze lime over.
9. Serve immediately.

...or maybe this:
quote:
Ingredients:

3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
1 red onion, chopped
2 red bell peppers, cubed
2 mangos, peeled and cubed
1 8oz. can crushed pineapple
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1 6oz. can pineapple juice
3 T soy sauce
6 T chicken broth
3 T rice vinegar
1 1/2 T cornstarch dissolved in warm water

Directions:

Heat a little oil in wok or large frying pan.
Add chicken and cook until the outsides are white.
Add red onion and cook 1 min. (until slightly soft)
Add red bell pepper and cook 30 sec.
Add mango, crushed pineapple and crushed red pepper, and cook, stirring, 1 minute.
Add next 4 ingredients (pineapple juice through rice vinegar). Stir thoroughly, then cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
Add cornstarch-water and bring back to a simmer, and cook 1 min. or until sauce thickens.

Serve over steamed white rice.

Those looked like the two most likely contenders.

Oh my stars, I'm starving.

This is what happens when you don't have television. You are instantly susceptible to anything and everything that even looks like advertising.

The restaurant I ate at wasn't in an actual Chinatown, it's called Chinatown, and is in Bozeman, and it decorated with silk flower arrangements with hot glue water droplets on the petals. It's in a little strip mall across from the highschool... very sketchy.....

but it was the best food I've EVER HAD.

It was actually really simple, and I'm going to try to make it. It was the slimy whitish chinese chicken that I can never quite duplicate, mangoes, cooked in red pepper oil. I don't think it had much seasoning above the standard sesame oil/soy sauce flavor... it was slightly sweet but not gagging sweet like sweet & sour.

I've found that the secret to making wokked stuff taste chinese is the oil you use. I got some raw sesame oil at the co op and sautee some red peppers in that stuff and you're good to go.

Mmmmm.

That was so good. I'm not gonna shut up about it for weeks!

This is the first time I'm eating something while on Hatrack, so here goes. I'm eating a panini with roast beef, swiss, dried tomato spread, pesto, and tomatoes along with diet coke. MMMMMMMMMMM [Big Grin]

If you're able to replicate it, let me know the recipe.

I agree, when it comes to Chinese food, oil (and, as kat mentioned in an earlier thread, Oyster Sauce) is everything.

Right now I'm eating a piece of absolutely mind blowingly good dark chocolate.

Peanut Butter Cup = good
Inside out PBC = BAD

Which is strange, since they are made from the same materials.
