I finally understand what it takes to be cool, and it's all so simple.

1) State you are cool.
2) Get someone else to state you are cool to people who haven't heard you state you are cool.
3) State to the people that have heard you were cool, but haven't heard YOU say you were cool, that you are cool.
4) Start a fan club.

It's just that simple.

It seems to me that you can skip steps 1 and 3 if you have enough 2 going on.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

It does no good having people think you might be cool, if you never throw it in their face, to reassure them that if they think otherwise, they are wrong. People need reassurance, Tom.

T Smith is cool. Very.

Posted by MaydayDesiax (Member # 5012) on :

::pops up in her 'We heart T_Smith pariphanalia:: You DO have a fan club... right?

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Tom understands that if you're cool enough, you don't need to state it.

Exactly my point. Since when have I ever actually been cool?

This is just a nice fancy way to sidestep the whole actually being cool bit.

Posted by Trisha the Severe Hottie (Member # 6000) on :

T_Smith is Severely cool.

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Actually, you're on the road. Being cool takes, more than anything, a large dollop of self-confidence and a knowledge of when to give attention and when to withhold it.

Worked out well, you can rule like the Doge.

Posted by Wussy Actor (Member # 5937) on :

Cool is overrated. I prefer to be quietly superior.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Not sure I can jump right on the T_is_cool bandwagon. Somehow I feel a bit reticent. Now why would that be, I wonder....

[Big Grin]

Exhibit A

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

It's all about acting like everyone else should already know you're cool.

See, this is the secret to playing the 'Rack, as taught to me by the eminent example of Mistress Ralphie.

P.S. This also works for sexy.

We could have a concert to raise money to pay for advertising that T is cool. We would call it Cool-Aid.

Posted by Bono (Member # 5394) on :

Could we hold a benefit concert and sing In the Name of Love?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Only the Thompson Twins version.

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

*buys tickets*

Will Nate sign my brown jacket?

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

[Eek!] That seems like an awful lot of effort to me. Is there any hope for us lazy people??

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Care about people individually, and act fully confident in yourself. The quiet, reverential worship will come.

pops, gee, no idea [Big Grin]

and this thread has disappointed me to no end. i assumed from the title that t'd finally gotten a girlfriend.

Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :

T is so cool, he's HOT!

You forgot one rule though. You have to be known by one name or just an initial (like T). Or be known as "The _____" whatever your name is.

Like "The Bob."

[Razz]

I'm a bit busy with my own club right now, but I'll join yours sometime when I'm less busy, T.

Or I may just go wash my hair. Gotta love that "organic experience."

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Does getting a phone number and having her tell me that she was "Glad she caught me to give me her number" that that she "most definately wanted to do something sometime" count for anything, celia?

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

Woo! Go T! [Smile]

Posted by celia60 (Member # 2039) on :

not till you actually manage to call her, thunder score. [Razz]

1) State you are cool.
2) Get someone else to state you are cool to people who haven't heard you state you are cool.
3) ???
4) Profit

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Uh, no, it doesn't. You have to follow through, unless the point of gathering numbers is to brag about it on an internet forum. [Razz]

You mean thats not the point, well so much for my vestige of a life. This actully calling people up sounds like a far to much work, boasting about it omline can be done without getting up.

I think T's head has inflated to the size of Texas...

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Have I once stated in this thread that I was cool? Nope. It's been everyone else.

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

You're not following your own four sstep program? O_o

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

I don't have to in this thread, apparently.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

It's written across the seat of your pants, though, right?

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

I don't know. Wanna take a closer look for me?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

I'm afraid I have to pass. Or, rather, I'm afraid you might have to.

Posted by saxon75 (Member # 4589) on :

If I were to imagine T with writing on his butt, I think it would more likely say something like "This is my butt" than "I am cool."

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Darn, you know me too well.

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

That's the only way those kinds of pants would be cool. That, or if they said CHEESE. Either one.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

I think T_Smith is a dork, but that's just me.

Now me... I'm the coolest. Obviously.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*weakly* There's-- there's going to a be a picture, isn't there? [Angst]

Posted by Ophelia (Member # 653) on :

Oh my god. I so want pants that say "This is my butt" on them. I don't think I could ever wear them, though.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Posted by The Rabbit (Member # 671) on :

Being Cool is much simpler than that:

One step: Visit Montana in January wearing shorts.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

That's not becoming cool. That's becoming an icicle! [Angst]

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

I'm not gonna touch that one.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Yeah, wouldn't want to end up in hot water.

Posted by Dead_Horse (Member # 3027) on :

Especially not with a wet tongue. It might stick, like that kid's in the Christmas Story movie. Then you would actually be wishing for the hot water. [Cool]

Homer: So, I realized that being with my family is more important than being cool.
Bart: Dad, what you just said was powerfully uncool.
Homer: You know what the song says: "It's hip to be square".
Lisa: That song is so lame.
Homer: So lame that it's... cool?
Bart & Lisa: No.
Marge: Am I cool, kids?
Bart & Lisa: No.
Marge: Good. I'm glad. And that's what makes me cool, not caring, right?
Bart & Lisa: No.
Marge: Well, how the hell do you be cool? I feel like we've tried everything here.
Homer: Wait, Marge. Maybe if you're truly cool, you don't need to be told you're cool.
Bart: Well, sure you do.
Lisa: How else would you know?

Posted by Zotto! (Member # 4689) on :

Nate himself has observed that I am "Mr. Cool", so I feel pleasantly warm and fuzzy in this thread.

Posted by JonnyNotSoBravo (Member # 5715) on :

Just be sure that being told you're cool is good in a nice casual way, 'cuz if it's good in a needy, insecure way then you're halfway to not being cool anymore... [Wink]
