Once I've seen an actor (and recognized him or her) in a role, they get pretty fixed in that role in my mind, if it's at all memorable. So Sam Beckett is the captain of the Enterprise, Lara Croft was half of some movie called Girl Interrupted, and just a few nights ago I saw Captain Picard face off with the ghost of Jacob Marley.

I didn't have this problem with Lord of the Rings, though I couldn't help thinking of the elves as Vulcan. But some loser brought to my attention that Elrond and Agent Smith are played by the same guy, and now it's "Mr. Anderson" this and "Mr. Anderson" that. "Your fiancee is ill from Sauron's power, Mr. Anderson." "You must walk the Paths of the Dead, Mr. Anderson."

AUUUGGHH!!!

I'm gonna have to kill the guy who started that thread about what to do at Return of the King.

Whenever I see Enterprise, I always think of Bakula's character in Quantam Leap right away.

I have to agree with Mac to a point..

My kids and I did a home "marathon" of the first two movies (extended edition) this week in preparation for seeing the third. And yes, we ended his sentences with "Mr. Anderson" when he was on screen (outloud! after all, this is the family living room) and shouted "Run, Forrest, Run!" when the Ents were marching to war.

None of that would have been possible (or even CONSIDERED) except for having read that thread....

I have a guy friend who rolls his 'r's the way Weaving does as Elrond whenever he watches the Matrix trilogy. It's absolutely hysterical.

A true Tolkein freak would say,

"About....that....Ring, Mrrrrr. Underrrrrhill..."

And, I'm afraid I'm going to have to punish Farmgirl for that "Run, Forrest, Run." remark.

But, then again, while I was watching T^3 with my kids, during that emotional scene between Sam and Frodo at the end as they walk through the woods...Frodo turns teary-eyed towards Sam, and says..."Kiss me, Sam!" Ruins a perfectly good movie, every time!

I've always thought that alongside the foreign language tracks available on most DVD's, they should also have a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" track, complete with black silhouettes of movie theater seats and our three insipid heroes.

The commentary track for Ghostbusters features Ramis, Reitman, and one other guy (I can't rmemeber who) silhouetted MST3K style as they deliver often humours commentary on the movie. I thought it was a nice touch.

T, we have that DVD and actually a bunch of jatraqueros have watched some of that commentary in MY family room. We laughed a LOT. [Wink]

Some thoughts...

In Priscilla, he was not quite a man.
In Matrix, he was not quite an agent.
In Lotr, he is not quite an elf (he is a half-elf).

Interesting, huh? It seems Hugo (it's his name)plays a lot of borderline characters :-)

(P.S. This post isn't intended to mock homossexuals, Matrix agents nor elves or half-elves in any way)
