thought this may be of interest to some of you: found it on DarkHorizons:

quote:
MSNBC reports that Val Kilmer won't be going from porn king to Mormon saint after all. "Wonderland" star Kilmer was in heavy talks to to play Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - the order better known as the Mormons.

The film entitled "The Prophet: The story of Joseph Smith" is being made by Utah-based company Zion Films and their source said of the casting - "There was a lot of controversy about (the choice of Kilmer) because he doesn't exactly have a saintly image, either on screen or off. But some people thought it was good casting because Smith was charismatic and quite the ladies man. There were some heavy-duty discussions going on about it all on about it all".

Kilmer's spokesman has confirmed he won't be starring in the film and refuses to discuss the issue further.

Hate to burst your news bubble, but this information is at least a month old. Not to mention, there was a past post that talked about this; and the first one I posted in.

I think George Clooney should play Joseph Smith.
