'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Hatrack
not a gay thread was started, or G-Bush attacked.
The fluff threads were started, each with do care,
in hopes that K-Card soon would be there.

The Wenches were nestled all snug in IM,
Debating the values of all cute "Rings" men
While I and Icarus and good Bob_Scopatz
Had just settled down for a long winter's chat.

When out on the track there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from IM to see what was the matter.
I reopened the window, (and emptied my Cache)
Had Belle returned? Or perhaps Slash

The sun on my screen left a long nasty glare
Blinded my eyes, who's posting where?
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but OSC Posting, a bit here and a bit there.

With some little fun comments , so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it wasn't a trick.
More rapid than eagles, his comments they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called us by name:

"Now T_Smith! Now Celia!
Now, Kasie and Ralphie!
On, Bravo! On, Strider!
On, DK and Geoffy!
So many to read
I can't name you y'all!
Now post away! Post away!
Post away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the call we posters we flew,
with the page full of Card threads, and OSC too.

And then, in a twinkling, I read on the page
the prancing and pawing of kids of all age.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down into my thread OSC came with a bound.

And I blushed all in red, from my head to my foot,
and my thoughts were all critiqued with the comment "Well put".
A bundle of joy he had flung on hatrack,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
(Well, our Ms. K-Card described him as so).

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a strong face and a sharp pointed wit,
That sung and we laughed. He's always a hit.

He was loved by the women, as much as "that" elf
And I laughed when I heard them, in spite of myself.
A winking smilie from K-Card's last thread
Soon gave me to know they had nothing to dread.

He wasted no word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the threads, then typed, "Post, do not Lurk."
And typed in one finger, from one hand it rose
And complained quite loudly of someones bad prose.

He sprang to his thread, to log out and be gone,
And away he left us, but not for too long.
For I saw him exclaim, 'ere he left our dear sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

I hope this poem ends up being true, that would be cool, but even if it doesn't, the poem is pretty cool already.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, pretty cool! [Hat]

I hope it ends up being true, too, except maybe for the pipe-smoking part. He'd feel guilty about that later, and might blame us and close Hatrack. And the references to "K-Card" keep making me think of the Dodge Aries of old. I've never driven one, but Mama had one when she was younger. Not her fault, though. Not really.

Well done, Dan. Smiles have happened in response.

Ha, ha, I completely overlooked the pipe-smoking paragraph. Not something I would picture OSC doing or even condoning.

Silly me, I thought every writer smoked pipes. It's like part of the uniform or something.

To late now, I'll edit it for any future postings though.

You know, if Dan posts so much funny stuff around Christmas, it should be Christmas all year long on Hatrack!

But Slash hates Christmas.
