I knitted my first ever scarf for Nathan. Dang that was difficult. The look on his face was wonderful, though. I got a high-five and a "I'm so proud of you, mama! You finally did it!"

My supervisor gave me a case of Diet Mountain Dew (because I've always got one at work). I got her a coupon book for Dunkin' Donuts because she always gets one small coffee every afternoon.
For everyone else, I picked out and framed photographs that would apply/appeal/mean something to them.

i worked hard knitting a fluffy scarf for one of my sisters, then left it in the DORM where I cant get at it until the dorms reopen. BAD me.
And I ordered a translation of Hindu myths for my sister-then just after i'd ordered it, we had an argument about hinduism, so i was terrified she'd think it was me trying to make a point...

To remain post-relevant, I will tell you that I gave my husband a George Foreman Grill. Every holiday he says "I was going to get you a George Foreman Grill, because I know you want one, but I forgot." I reply, "*I* don't want a George Foreman Grill, *you* do." And he tries to convince me that I am wrong. *rollseyes* So I got him one. And he loves it. Because he is a perverse boogerhead.

To my fiancee I gave this ring as a promise ring, as well as this t-shirt, and a sticker from thinkgeek. Along with her present though, I sent a special edition RotK soundtrack, and a signed book by the poet laureate Billy Colins. That's...pretty much all I've given in the way of Christmas presents. And I know (actually, I thought it was an MSW, like my aunts and grandmother, but I knew it wasn't a doctorate . . . but that wouldn't work for the joke. )

I got Tony (Scythrop) Maps in a Mirror.
I was particulary proud of myself, as he's been wanting them for ages, and they're not available in the shops (I know they're about to be reprinted, but I still thought I was clever getting hold of them).
And as we're about to embark on a 17 hour plane journey, I figured he needed something to read.

For Hanukkah, I gave my friend one of the Fellowship cloaks I made. I kept the other one for myself.
I ordered a Gundam SEED poster for another friend. And the third friend has something picked out, but she hasn't sent me a link, so I haven't bought it yet.
It's okay. We're not sticklers for punctuality in my group.

I bought Mom a Santa for her Santa figure collection. It's from Cracker Barrel, and it's a Santa on the beach. It sounds cheesy, but she loved it. (The majority of her Santas are antique or foreign, but I thought she'd like a funny one. I guessed right for once. )
Unfortunately I couldn't think what to get anyone else. I bought a scented candle for my grandparents and a $10 gift card each for the three kids in my family that I actually grew up with. (Three stepsisters were already in their teens when I met them.) Then I forgot to bring them home from Cracker Barrel, which was closed today of course. So they're still in the locker.

Nearly everyone on my list got an Icelandic wool sweater, or something Iceland-related. Except for the folk for which I found stuff in Germany (an Oktoberfest mug, crystal bells, nutcrackers).

I made all the nephews and nieces (ten, plus or minus two) fleece blankets (thank you ludosti) with their initials on them. They were a huge hit.
I also gave my dad the Complete Far Side, Molly's baby got a Santa outfit (my principles go out the window when the outfit comes in baby size), and Coccinelle a book of quilting block patterns.

I didn't get to go Christmas shopping thanks to being sick...but I'm probably going to get people things, anyway.
I think I'll get my mom the Maroon5 cd...she absolutely loves them. I don't know about my dad. I think he has enough candy to last him a year. Dunno about my brother, either. But I definitely need to buy my mom that cd.
Oh, and I ordered my best friend a tshirt that won't be delivered for two months. But she'll love it.

I was going to go the Barnes&Noble gift certificate route, but then I started finding absolutely perfect gifts in the store, so I chose a specific gift for each person on my list. I got everything at B&N.
Best gifts I gave, IMHO, were: - magnetic poetry for Cat lovers to my sister-in-law who really does love cats. Her fridge is a mess of stuff, though, so maybe she'll have to clean a space first. That's not a bad thing either, I suppose.
- hand made blank journals for a few of the recipients. Very cool hand-made paper too!

To my husband, my children and I gave a set of Hershey's ice cream bowls, a scooper, and a variety of syrups.
To my mother, my mother-in-law, and my sister, I gave my time. The all sent or gave me money to go shopping on their behalf for my children, and then I wrapped up all those presents and slapped to and from labels on them.
For the men in our lives, my mother and I cooked a wonderful meal, and then cleaned up the mess. Usually, they do the cleaning.
I didn't actually buy anything else except for the toys and clothes and such for the children. None of the rest of the adults did either, though, except my sister, who is an oddball. Part of her requested shopping spree included my parents, and she also bought me a family pass to the Tulsa Zoo. A year of animals with no admission charges? COOL!

My Mom has wanted new glassware for a long time. She no longer has enough of any one kind to have matching place settings when they have company for dinner. But my siblings and I were pretty sure that she’d guess that right away, and we wanted to be sneaky. So we each got her something else, and my brother and I sent my sister (who lives closest to Mom & Dad) money for our third of the glasses. Then before Mom, Dad, and ljw left to come to my house for Christmas, lj took the glassware over to Mom & Dad’s neighbors’ house. While they were gone, the neighbors came in and cleaned out the cupboard and filled it with the new glasses. Twelve each of tall and short tumblers and juice glasses. Dad called after they got home – apparently she opened the cupboard to get a glass for water and just stopped and stared.
