There was once a poster named Dobie, who was banned for breaking UBB. He spawned the evil meme which bears his name. And no, they are not funny. None of them are funny. They have never been funny. People for some reason seem to think their own dobies are funny but they are mistaken. [Smile]

Rudolph, how could I cheat? Call and ask your mom? <grins>

Yes I have gotten sort of obsessive compulsive about the begging the dog's name question game, so I searched the web for baby name sites and scanned several thousand boy's names starting with S to get some ideas for guesses. It's interesting that as soon as I thought of Shakespeare I was instantly sure that was it. [Smile]

I'll give a hint about my dog's name if nobody guesses it after one more try.

My dog was our pet when I was 7 years old. She was a mixed breed dog that was hanging around the neighborhood, that we talked our mother into letting us keep. She was pregnant and had 6 puppies whom we named Blackie, Whitie, Spot, Dot, Tiger, and Ringo. She was named for certain features on her coat. People have come rather close but nobody has guessed it yet. The normal and quite proper word for a female dog does not make up part of her name. [Smile]

This is a fun game! I'm glad you started it, Rudolph! I've guessed 2 right so far! Go me! [Smile]

I think Anna Jo probably did tell me the name of her new puppy, though I don't recall it, yet I will not guess on hers, in case I already know it.

Dan Raven's male dog, a Chow-Chow, named R****

ttat: I was sure it was Rollin'! Hmmmm. Robbin'?

I've only had one other dog besides Bootsie. When I was very young, my family had a Boxer I reportedly adored. There's a photo of this Boxer and I sharing a popsicle. I'm licking one side and P***** is licking the other. I barely remember P***** so I don't even know for sure if the dog was male or female. I think male but I'm not sure. The name doesn't really tell you which, but was obviously a play on his breed. We didn't have him long. He kept jumping the fence and bothering the neighbors so we ended up giving him back to the veterinarian we got him from. I was about 3 at the time.

Well, I have five dogs. However, of course, you already know My Favorite because Frisco has had such a good laugh over that one. Bet you wouldn't have been able to guess his name on here, though, if I hadn't already told you there.

We also have a chihauhau, a german-shepherd mix, an australian shepherd mix, and one mutt that looks a lot like Benji (of the movies). But I won't make you guess all those names...

From this site: http://www.flockguard.org/cmd/cmdprspc.htm

quote:
Moscow people were very enthusiastic about making the Caucasian a larger dog. The famous military kennel Red Star in Moscow mixed the Caucasian with the St. Bernard and the Newfoundland, trying to create new breeds based on the Caucasian. However, in my estimation they were unsuccessful at creating anything of value! These mixed breeds were bred in Moscow as Caucasian purebreds. The cross breeding produced increased height at the wither, a jowly look to the head, and an unbalanced nervous system. These dogs are huge with a somewhat soft wavy coat (a disqualification because the Caucasian must have a straight, offstanding coat), and they bark excessively without cause. However, a few dogs were saved in Moscow having an old purebred bloodline, offspring of the famous dog Leman, which are now considered very precious in breeding. Other breeders from all over Russia who try to preserve the breed often utilize this bloodline. In Dnieperpetrovsk, the modern center of dog business, the Caucasians are predominantly of Moscow breeding.
