A meeting is going on in our conference room right now, throwing around words such as "paradigm" and "synergy"
Actually synergy was used correctly:
syn·er·gy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (snr-j) n. pl. syn·er·gies
The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects. Cooperative interaction among groups, especially among the acquired subsidiaries or merged parts of a corporation, that creates an enhanced combined effect.
Kill me now. Please.
Anyone else overhearing airy-fairy words?

I used to have this on my PalmPilot. It's lots of fun to suddenly shout out in the middle of a meeting, "Bingo!"
And then, of course, you have to "show your card" to get credit.

Bob, I wish we still had what you saw way back when. They've cleaned it up quite a bit, so it's not nearly so choked with every buzz word in the business. But if you dig, you can still find some real gems from when you last saw it.
Short sample:
"LET'S TALK. Better yet, you talk and we'll listen. Because understanding the central business problem is where true solutions begin. And every problem is an opportunity.

There is a comedy skit by "Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie" called "Dot Com 1999" which uses a LOT of these words. Jiminy, it's funny. You can find that song (and others) on this website.

When I taught GT 2nd grade, I gave each student a "personal vocabulary word" that described him or her. I refused to reveal the meaning - the students had to find that out for themselves! They loved this! I gave out 5 a week until each person had one. It was challenging to think of words that were both true and positive for each kid.
Some good words: gregarious, solicitous, studious...

There's this teacher at my school who seriously talks like that 24/7. He knows absolutely nothing about anything, but the only reason he still has a job though is because he gets the school a ton of grant money... So apparently there are a bunch of suckers who actually buy into that. Go figure.

[delurk]Out of curiosity, I did a search for the terms "robust supply chain management solutions" on google. There are more than 200,000 pages with those terms. There are 8 that have that exact phrase. Definitely falls into the 'over-used' category. That or the used something similar to Dilbert.com's Mission Statement Generator to compose the sites. A word that has appeared twice in the book I'm editing: pusilanimous. It's just a big, fancy, Latinate word meaning wussy. There's just no excuse.
Edit: It appeared a third time. And it's all in one chapter!
