She's screamin' in on Mars as we speak!

From Space.com:

quote:

As a twin to the Spirit Mars rover, Opportunity will land on January 24 about 9:05 pm Pacific Standard Time (PST).

The Trajectory Correction Maneuver more precisely aligned Opportunity for its dive toward the pre-picked landing point. Meridiani Planum is an intriguing locale on Mars where mineral deposits -- specifically hematite -- are suggestive that Mars had a wet past

Crawlin' Rovers, what Fun!!!

Does anyone else see a potential video game in this? [Wink]

A Nasa video game? That would be so boring it would give us cancer.

Hmmmmm.... Maybe if you had to build the spaceship.... Kind've like a Sim game.

But I think the Simpsons made it loud and clear when Homer went into outer space that space, without any crazy aliens or lazor guns, is pretty dull.

Did you guys see the sunset tonight? The tiniest sliver of a new moon in the darkening sky, with Venus beaming down from above. It was breathtaking!

Posted by eslaine (Member # 5433) on :

Very nice Nocal sunset, if I do say so myself. [Smile]

If you do say so yourself? Does that mean it was your doing? Wow! Can you make the sunset that pretty tomorrow night too? That's so awesome!

Posted by eslaine (Member # 5433) on :

I'll just add more cloud. [Wink]

Posted by aka (Member # 139) on :

Yeah, and make the sliver of moon just a little bit bigger, and let it stay up a while longer after the sun goes down, okay? It would be cool if it were a little closer to Venus. [Smile] Wow, thanks! You're a great acolyte!

You guys have heard that we lost contact with Spirit, right?

Posted by aka (Member # 139) on :

Yes, I heard. [Frown] Do they have any idea what is going on?

Posted by eslaine (Member # 5433) on :

You mean: Spirt stopped communicating?

Posted by TimeTim (Member # 2768) on :

You just knew something had to go wrong. I expect the news tomorrow will deal with the impact of Spirit directly onto Opportunity, demolishing both craft and ending driving me back to reread A Princess of Mars.

Dejah Thoris! [Kiss]

Radio contact, but no data.

At least, that's what NASA says.
