So........ who will be the winner?

Think Dean has lost it? Think Kerry can hold it? What about Edwards? Who is the most honest? Who would most likely loose?

Oh..... Go Patriots!! Kick some panther tail!

GO PANTHERS!!!
WOOOHOOO!!!

Panthers 20
Patriots 17

New Hampshire will probably be Kerry, Edwards, Clarke and Dean in that order. Least, that's my guess.

According to my four-year-old son, the Panthers will win. And he is almost never wrong about these things. (Next year I'm having him draft my fantasy football team).

Of course, he does sometimes change his pick, even up to the moment the game starts. For example, he was all for the Eagles until gametime, when all of a sudden he was telling me it was the Panthers.

He's uncanny.

Who will win? Why not ask Saruman the Wise!

Who cares, as long as I get some decent chips n' dip.

Amen Bob, I've watched the last 3 super bowls and I can't even tell you who was playing, let alone who won. But I'd be darned if I didn't have a good time during all three of them.

I'm a San Diego Chargers fan, and my butt still hurts from the whoopin' they got from the 49ers in XXIX. Haven't watched a Super Bowl since -- far too depressed.

Patriots will win.

They have one of the all time best defenses. period.
They have a quarterback who doesn't make stupid mistakes.
They have a TEAM that doesn't make stupid mistakes.
They had the best turnover ratio in the NFL.
They've won 16 straight and there is no reason to think they'll lose ANY game, especially after what they did to the colts offense, arguably the best offense in the NFL.

The panthers offense plays RIGHT into the style of defense new england plays. Smith will be lucky to get 75 yards, and if he can't run, the panthers are going no where.

And while the panthers also have a good defense, it will be hard pressed to hold the patriots to fewer then 20 points...

If the panthers sack Brady more than three times, they will win the game. Mark my words.

Brady is not used to getting beat up. He likes to release quickly, and stay on his feet after throwing. If the aggressive panthers corners can tie up his receivers long enough for the pass rush to start hitting him, he will start to throw dumb passes. He is a finesse quarterback who likes to throw short outs and keep his uniform clean. I want to see how he plays when Peppers is falling on him during or after his passes.

And, the patriots will have a harder time running against the panthers than the panthers will against them. A. Smith is not half the back that either Davis or Foster are.

Of course, he's not half the back, for example, edgerrin james is... or any of the other backs the patriots stomped on all year.

While the patriots will have a harder time running on the panthers then the panthers will on the patriots, that has been true of every single game the patriots have played this year. They just run th eball 30 times for 90 yards most games, to keep the defense honest.

The offense is designed to get the ball out of brady's hands very quickly. And no pass rush has yet forced him into making bad decisions on a consistent basis. I don't think the panthers can do it.

Also, Brady hasn't really shown that he gets flustered when he gets hit. As well, the patriots have stopped some pretty fast pass rushs this year.

If Brady gets sacked more then 3 times, the panthers might have a chance. But even without woody, the offensive line does a very good job of pass blocking.

Well, that's what all the football experts thought about

The Cowboys
The Rams
The Eagle

all of whom will be watching the superbowl from their living rooms. People keep saying 'The Panther's won't be able to.." whatever.

However, IF the Patsies O line can keep the ferocious pass rush of the Panthers (the most ferocious in the NFL) off of Brady, yes, the Patsies will be hard to beat.

I am just wondering if they will be able to. And with the Panthers secondary morphing into a nasty aggressive unit (very similar to the Pats in many ways, actually), getting the ball out quick may be problematic.

Yeah, but remember who BEAT those rams? [Smile] This is a far better patriots team then two years ago.

I know the panthers are a good team. But not nearly as good as the team the patriots will field.

Bud Light's gonna get sacked this year. I feel it in my bones.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

I can't wait.

Oh wow, mack, are you a straight Budweiser fan?

Can we manage to get past this dark and dangerous rift between us?

<insert angst smilie>

*pat pat*

I meant for the superbowl. I had such a great time the last time the Patriots were in it.

And I'm a football junkie. If it's on TV, I'll watch it.

Oh. *relieved

We could watch together, then. I'll crochet a coaster.

Panthers by 5. You heard it here first.

If only because the patriots uniform and mascot is so gay.

Now don't get me wrong, the Patriotic Elvii are one heck of a football team. And they did manhandle the Colts in a remarkable way. It was a great performance.

The Panthers, if you remember, did that as well this year, while Stephen Davis was on the sidelines. Oh yeah, they did it in Indianapolis, too.

Whatever the outcome, I do believe that this year we've got two of the most deserving teams ever in the Super Bowl. Both teams are pretty much filled with "no names" but they've both whipped about every "big name" team they've come across.

I just believe that Carolina will edge out New England in the end. That winning streak of the Elvii is just a bit too long for it not to go against them... kinda like the one St. Louis had for home games until a couple of weeks ago.

Not that i like either team but im guessing patriots.

Carolina is too unoriginal of a place they stole everything from Florida. The took the Carolina Hurricanes from the Miami Hurricanes and the Carolina Panthers from the Florida Panthers.

Still go Panthers but Pats will. When New England wins is there going to be another "Down with the Yankees!" chant in Boston like in '01?

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

No doubt... Sadly enough. I can understand at Sox games (even when the Yanks aren't playing there, since they suck all season long [Wink] ), but it's just obnoxious otherwise.

-Bok, never been part of a "Yankees suck!" chant

Anyone making wagers?

Sure a lot of people around work here making bets on the game. (I don't feel strongly for either of these two particular teams -- since the Chiefs didn't make it).

I hear you can bet on-line all kinds of weird stuff besides the score -- whether the first receiver to catch a touchdown pass will be wearing an even or odd numbered jersey, etc.

It's supposed to snow all day here on Sunday, but I know my kids will want me to drive them to their youth group's super bowl party... <SIGH>

5 bucks says you're a betting person today, Farmgirl.

Not on the Panthers or Patriots! <grin>

::I wonder how much the powerball lottery is up to, though?::

I played fantasy football with the rest of my department during the regular season. I got my butt kicked. So I'm done wagering for awhile.
