One of my family friends had a baby in September.

Her baby now has to have chemo. Apparently, he doesn't have cancer, but whatever he has is close enough that's how it's treated.

Has anyone heard of this before? She's in Israel now, so I feel very far away and like I can't really help her.

If you can remember Orit, David, and little Yohai in your prayers, it would be much appreciated.

Okay. [Smile]

I've never heard of this either. CT? Theca? That's scary.

I'm sure whatever it was that they are treating must have made the baby pretty miserable, but sheesh.

I have heard of chemo on an infant. [Frown]

The baby is Yohai ben Orit then?

Yes, Yohai ben Orit.

That is so sad...you can't explain to an infant why it has to suffer so much. [Frown]

Hey.

A huge thank you to all who pray for him. Poor thing. And his parents are just so scared.

Chemo. Yuck! I've never had it, but watching my mom go through it is a nightmare. (((hugs for the little one))))

Do you know what chemo there using?

Some chemo is actually not chemo at all. Because it is used to treat cancer it is generically lumped into that catagorie.

*bump*

GS, since I see that you're on, can I ask how little Yohai is doing?

I'm fixing to go to shul by and by. I'll pray for him.

He's doing ok. Still hanging on, but he's constantly sick [Frown] . He's home right now, with a full-time nurse.

His parents and grandparents have been really great. It's times like this that really show how strong the community can be.

Thanks for asking!

My mom asked this morning if he should still be on the Tehillim list -- I'll tell her yes. [Frown]

I'm glad he's home, though. [Smile]

Poor child. I had chemo when I was around 2 or something...

Yeah, their biggest worry is that it will damage his long-term growth.

But it's a lot better than being worried that he wouldn't make it.

A baby I know had Wiskott Aldritch Disease, and has had chemo, as well as a bone marrow transplant, and he is all of 8 months old. It is a disease that is very rare, and somewhat like leukemia. He made it through, though, and the chemo was the least of their worries. It was hard, but the whole process saved his life.
