I'm grateful that no school violence, save a few, normal, school street-fights, ever occured in the schools I attended. However, I can remember clearly at least three cases in which knives (not pocket knives; big things) were found in children's back packs, two of them in Elementary schools. Things like this sadden me, but what saddens me even more is to think that even more acts were planned, even if they didn't succeed.
