To the young'un known as Rhaegar the Fool,

I had better see your butt in a recruiting station the minute you turn 18. I am so sick and tired of your mindless, pro-American rhetoric that I want to see it backed up. I want you to put your life on the line for this country you worship so much.

See, half of the male members of my family serve this country. Three out of four are either in Iraq or current en route. I don't like it one damn bit, and I'm sick of you sitting in your arm chair saying that it's good that they go to die for people like you.

So, shut up or put your money where your mouth is.

Oh, he could theoretically join up at 17 . . . but I'm willing to wait a little bit.

A guy, who was very quiet, in my study hall senior year of highschool apparently agreed with some more conservative pro-American veiws, but not as extremely or as loudly a few other guys in class, and whenever anyone disagreed with them they called them unAmerican and said they should be sent back where they came from. They said this to me once when I said they were being too loud (they were pretty much shouting and I had to finsh a reading assignement and write a response), the statement propmted me to point out that 1) I wasn't argueing just saying they were being too loud since they were all within 3 feet of eachother, and 2) I have no idea where in the world I would be being sent back to, my family has been in America long enough that no one in the family knows where we came here from.

Anyway the guy who was very quiet disagreed with them one day and they called him unpatriotic, and unAmerican, and said he should be deported as usual, but he just let them ramble, and apparently at that point he had already enrolled in The Marine Corp, and was leaveing for boot camp the week after greduation, so he simply felt no need to convince anyone how he felt about the US.

I know this is not the person you are addressing, and neither are any of the other people in the story, but your comments to Rhaegar just reminded me of the story. [Dont Know]

I don't think I've ever made my political stance known to you, Marek. I am very much anti-Bush and anti-War (that being War in all sense especially imperialistic war.) I'm not calling him un-American. I'm just annoyed that he is always saying things like, "Bush is so cool! He's so smart! He is awesome! Yay America!" and it gets on my nerves. I especially dislike his constant assurance that the war in Iraq is necessary and that our military is some kind of amazing, bullet-proof mass of ass-kicking goodness.

PC, I wasn't saying that you were accuseing anyone of being un-American, nore am I saying Rhaegar shouldn't be able to speak his mind with or without military service. And of course speaking up when that annoys you is something I would never suggest anyone stop doing. I was mearly saying that you suggesting Rhaegar enlist if he is as sure as he seems to be that the actions of the PResident and the military are so flawless, reminded me of the guy decideing not argue and scream about loveing his country, and how great the military is, instead he simply enlisted. Basically they both seem to be related to the phrase "actions speak louder than words".

I'm sorry if I have made you mad, I thought my post might make Rhaegar a bit angry, though I was intending it to anger him, just accepting that it might, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I wasn't agreeing with, or disagreeing with any political veiws, and honestly know too little about most of subjects in your post to intelligently comment on them. I just mentioned a story it reminded me of.

If you had actually made me angry, I would have started a thread about it. [Razz]
