Anyone notice Kerry uses this phrase quite often? I heard him used it about VP Cheney and civil unions. Today I read that he used it about Edwards and international trade. But I'm pretty sheltered. Have there been other instances?

I don't know why I dislike Kerry. I guess even though I'm anti-democrat, I hate to see someone I like better (Edwards) passed up for this Kennedy wannabe.

What bothers me more is that his position is clearly NOT the same.

Well, yes and no. I think they state the same opinion, but Cheney's is underlaid by his daughter being gay whereas Kerry wants to offend the fewest voters.

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask... are the ramifications of dissolving a civil union different from marriage? If community property exists for marriage in a state, would that automatically apply to civil unions? I think it's one thing to put folks together in a civil union, it's another to see what happens when they break up.

I was referring to Edwards and Trade, sorry. I had no clue up until now what Cheney's position on civil unions is.
