Who would you be?

I think I would be Jan Brady. Except as a boy.

You?

I don't know...who puts their foot in their mouth every five seconds, alienating anyone that's within hearing distance? That would be me.

Ooooh. Dr. Cox from Scrubs. That's ME!

I always wanted to be Wilson, the know all neighbor who's face you never see.

Posted by Beren One Hand (Member # 3403) on :

I want to be Jack Tripper, because he lives with two girls.

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

I'd be the geeky/weird neighbor/friend. Like Boner on Growing Pains. But my name would not be Boner. How did they get away with that anyway? [Laugh]

Dr. Johnny Fever (WKRP in Cincinnati)

George Costanza.

Right now I would probably be Milhouse's dad from the simpsons.

Posted by UofUlawguy (Member # 5492) on :

Dr. B. J. Honicutt. (I don't care if that's not how it's spelled.)

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

Velma.

To Beatnix:

Shut up, Kurt!

I'd LOVE to be Hawkeye. My boss is a dead ringer for Colonel Potter, and I've laid claim to Hawkeye before, mostly because the boredom of staff meetings gets to me.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Hm. I'm probably Dan Connors.

Posted by Sopwith (Member # 4640) on :

Sometimes I feel like Benson on Soap , but rarely like Benson on Benson .

Posted by Danzig (Member # 4704) on :

A somewhat more intelligent version of Otto from The Simpsons.

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

Jo from Facts of Life. Except asian. Not many asians on sitcoms. Didn't Margaret Cho have a sitcom for a while? Unfortunately, I think her humor was mostly based on being allowed to make fun of asian accents.

:::apologies for an off-topic request:::

Joe-
Will you email me your address so that I can mail you the pin for Cor?
Thanks!

After carefully thinking about it, I've realized that I have yet to see a character like me on TV. I suppose someone else will just have to say for me, and see if I agree.

Posted by Slash the Berzerker (Member # 556) on :

T_Smith = Ralph Wiggum, only not as funny.

Posted by zgator (Member # 3833) on :

Nathan, I always pictured you as Screech from Saved by the Bell.

Crap, I like Slash's better.

I think I'd be Karen from Will & Grace.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Nathan, you are definitely Hot Lips.

celia- That's exactly what I thought! Only not as drugged all the time. Or slutty. Or maybe you are. How should I know these things.

Hot lips? - No clue who that is.

Screech? - That may be as close as it comes. Sad.

Ralph Wiggum minus the funny? - What's sad is when I beat Jon at Scrabble, I really was singing "I beat the smart kids, I beat the smart kids."

Posted by celia60 (Member # 2039) on :

Slutty? I thought she was just confident in her appearance. I mean, the only men she ever lets touch her are gay.

By the way, honey, that screen name is a big no. Now refresh my drink and don't spare the percoset.

Posted by Zalmoxis (Member # 2327) on :

That's a pretty serious gap in your cultural education, young man.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

celia: What about the women she lets touch her?

So Icky, who's Marcia? CT?

they're strait. same difference. by the way, good job of staying in character.

Gee, Bambi, thanks for bringing to my attention the fact that I'm in the middle of a game that you and your little pre-pubescent friends are playing, which believe it or not kind reminds me of this dream I had where I was trapped in my own personal hell. Actually, you were there, and you were there, and YOU were there but it doesn't matter anymore because if I have to read anymore of these crack-baby threads I'm going to throw myself in front of a BART just so that I won't have to listen to your grating voices ALL DAY LONG, get it?
.

.
I need to point out to anyone who doesn't watch Scrubs that I am JOKING!

I guess I'd be Bender, only with a fouler mouth.

Posted by Chris Bridges (Member # 1138) on :

None of them are identical, fortunately. I have to go with a combination.

Appearance: the dad from Family Ties (later episodes, after the beard) but with glasses and a paunch.

Attitude: B. J. Hunnicutt. Laid back, very difficult to rile, prefers to stay on the sides of arguments and gently poke fun at everyone involved, annoyingly happy with his wife. Also the pun thing.

Finances: Dan Connor. Also some of the gut.

Parenting skills: Roseanne. "Go clean your room!"
"But it's clean!"
"Then go clean my room!"

Posted by celia60 (Member # 2039) on :

Honey, I meant the "puts their foot in their mouth every five seconds, alienating anyone that's within hearing distance" part, not the Cox part. Hell, if you put that in your mouth more, I wouldn't have to listen to you blah, blah, blahing.

Rebecca Howe, Cheers, introduced late in the series.

Not that I particularly like Kristie Alley. Anyone seen those Pier 1 commercials? *shudder*

Posted by Beren One Hand (Member # 3403) on :

Rebecca Howe has one of my favorite lines of all time: "I'm TOO STUPID TO LIVE."

Sam: I never had a friend before.
Rebecca: Sam, you've had plenty of friends.
Sam: No, no. I've never had a friend before.

(conversation between Sam & Rebecca the day after they made love)

What's the girl's name on Growing Pains? Carol? She's the only one I can think of who's at all like me. Or maybe Ruthie from 7th Heaven.

Posted by Spice Weasel (Member # 6262) on :

I already am a character, albeit a minor one.

I'm the annoying neighbor kid who shows up just when you don't want him to.

Leonardo DiCaprio?

Posted by sndrake (Member # 4941) on :

No question for me.

From a real conversation with a coworker around the late 1980s:

Her: I have to watch Rosanne tonight.

Me: I haven't gotten into it - why do you like it?

Her: I finally have a show where the main character is someone who has a life and a personality I can relate to!

Me: (nodding) OK. I can appreciate that. I feel the same way about my favorite show.

Her: What's that?

Me: ALF.

That sounds like a good fit for Marsha, Kat. [Big Grin]

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

Elzar, welcome to Hatrack! [Wave]

I'd probably be Aunt Clara, from Bewitched... I have about the same grace and level of coordination! [Wink]

Posted by Olivet (Member # 1104) on :

I'd be that annoying woman sidekick on Will and Grace. And I've never even watched the show. [Big Grin]

[ROFL]

YOU ARE!

[ROFL]

Never heard of anyone mentioned.

Don't know who I would be.

I don't watch sitcoms.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

If celia=Karen and Olivet=Karen, doesn't that mean that celia=Olivet?

[Eek!]

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

rivka, stop with the math... it's getting late. [Wink]

Posted by Dr Cox (Member # 6275) on :

Sorry, Olivet, celia already claimed Karen from "Will and Grace" and she's the ORIGINAL annoying sidekick.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Hey, I resisted using the phrase "transitive property," didn't I? [Wink]

Posted by Olivet (Member # 1104) on :

Well, Hatrack Friends, is there any sitcom character that I'd be more suited to? I'm too mean to be MaryAnne.

I just don't know any modern sitcoms, really. I'd LOVE to be Leela from Futurama, but I'm probably more like "Mom". *sigh*

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I can't believe, in this crowd, no one has claimed Lisa.

"If anyone wants me, I'll be in my room."

Me either, but then, I haven't watched many sitcoms.
