Ok, I have decided that in order to keep going, I need something to look forward to. I've decided that thing will be picking a day, renting a segway, and ride it around the outside mall.

So, is it possible to rent a segway? And if so, does anyone know a good place to rent one?

So helping me translate Beowulf won't keep you going?

Yes I do. NEVrland, on Front Street, will rent you one.

Jon, quick confession. I've never read Beowulf in Olde English or whatever it is. I read a version in words that I could actually understand.

You may now decapitate me.

Nathan, I have an even worse confession: I've never read Beowulf in either Old English or modern English (though I have read excerpts in both).

*hangs head in shame*

Tsk! What kind of high school did you go to!? [Wink]

Alas, Jon, I forgive thee.

But fear not, for there is a pretty crappy movie you can rent with Anthony Hopkins or some similar guy in it.

I never read Beowulf and before folks start lambasting the Utah school system keep in mind I spent my first three years in suburban Washington D.C.. But I think it was more my commitment to resist "The Man" by not reading my high school assignments.

Or you could watch the ST:TNG episode, which is not half bad. [Wink]

Wow, this is totally going to be turned into a Beowulf thread, isn't it? Or is it about to be derailled into a Star Trek thread?

Ive never read Beowulf, though I somewhat remember a wishbone episode about it. [Big Grin]

As you like, T. [Big Grin]

Ok, if you had to choose a character from either Star Trek or Beowulf who would be most likely to own or rent a Segway, who would it be?

I vote for Grendel. Poor Beowulf . . .

I think the best person to have on Segway would be Worf. Can't you just see him riding around on one of those swinging that blade of his?

Worf with short hair, or a braid?

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

I'm going with short hair.
