Due to being linked and equated to the inestimable Banna and Tom, I'm seeing my name on Hatrack a great deal more lately. It's a kick. *grin*

But one thing is causing me such sadness. With your permission, I'd like to address it.

THERE ARE NO E'S IN MY SCREEN NAME. Nowhere. You can turn the letters over and over, and still, no e's in katharina. Not even in the middle, where you think there is one.

I can see how this is a bit puzzling, considering Katerina in Enchantment CLEARLY had an e in the middle of her name, and considering my given name (Katharine) also has an e in there somewhere, and yet, all can be explained. One is not my name, and in the other, the e is at the end.

I answer to Kat, Katie (most common in RL), Kate (my oh-so-professional and memorable work name), Katharine (the real thing. No one called/calls me this but my mother because she loved me and my middle brother because he wants to annoy me. Long story.), and katharina. All are acceptable and seeing them in print gives me the warm-fuzzy of existence confirmation. Thank you.

Katherine and katherina are creatures I know not of. I'm sure the real Katherines and katherinas are as puzzled as I am. For their sakes, I thank you. [Smile]

ketharina, let me be the first to welcome you to Hatrack. You're going to love it here.

Silly Katydid. At least you won't be ignored in this thread.

Maybe.

Do you prefer Kat or Katharina?

Kat's fine. [Smile]

Kat, I hope your coworkers didn't freak out when you did this. [Big Grin]

I'm sure kat has a cubicle set up in her home for computer use. Don't all red blooded Americans?

Posted by JonnyNotSoBravo (Member # 5715) on :

Are you saying I'm not a red blooded American because I don't have a cubicle in my house?

I'll have to kick your butt for saying that, right after I finish eating my steak and drinking my beer while watching baseball spring training on TV.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Yes they do. [Wink] I just wasn't sure if Kat was posting from her cubicle at work or the one in her apartment. [Confused] [Wink]

Posted by grinch (Member # 6034) on :

See, kat, you need to just start passive aggressively mis-spelling everyone else's name. Except for Dog. Just call him Rat. He loves that.

sorry, I have to say LOL!!!!!

I'm making noise in the computer lab laughing at you guys!!

You think people screw up your screen name?

Posted by Trisha the Severe Hottie (Member # 6000) on :

But would you be complaining if we called you "sexon75"?

If it helps any, I've always thought that your screen name was one of the easiest on Hatrack to spell, Kat.

...

Actually, that probably just makes it worse doesn't it?

Edit for UBB frustrations...

Hee. [Big Grin]

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, DENIZENS OF HATRACK!

Katharina will not be held responsible for her actions should you continue inserting unnecessary vowels into her name!

...and she gives a nasty wedgie, so be wary.

EDIT: this thread made me all paranoid, so I gave in to my neuroses and checked to make abso-freaking-lutely sure that I spelled your name correctly. [Roll Eyes]

I'm going to hijack your thread to put forth my own agenda!

Down with capitalization!

Capitalization in names is the tool of the man!

I prefer to be all lowercase. I am not 'Jexx', I am 'jexx'.

Thank you. That is all.

PS--katharina, what is *your* position on name capitalization?

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I have to admit that the capitalization either way does not really bother me.

saxon75, I feel cheated out of my 'right on'.

Don't you still have the 'right on' link?

Posted by Olivet (Member # 1104) on :

You know it was funny to me at WenchCon how many people actually called you 'Katerina' which was neither your name or your screen name. Did that bother you?

[Wink]

Just curious. [Smile]

(((((Katie))))

Posted by Taalcon (Member # 839) on :

One night after going three days without sleep, I totally forgot her name, and didn't call her anything - I just referred to her as "Her" or "She". I got repremanded by her for it, and was told it was okay to call her 'Katie'. Which I did thereafter.

Did anybody else read the last sentence of the title in a mice voice, in tune with "there are NO cats in America"?

Just checkin'.

Just finished watching "Big trouble in little China" - and danged if that picture of Kat on Foobonic don't look like a young Kim Catrall.

Katrall?

P.S. You have no idea how much you made my day.

Woohoo!

Right on back atcha.

And glad I could cause a little happy for you, my brother in lowercase freedom.

I revel in my lowercaseness as well. And since we're having this sort of thread, I will say my piece as well.

These are me:
Anne Kate
ak (when pronounced, say the letters)
aka (ditto)
ana kata

These are not me:
Anne
Anna Kate
Ana Kate

If you like, you can call me "and gate", or use the symbol =D- (which is the logic symbol for an and gate). It's sort of an obscure electrical engineering student nickname for me. It started when a lab TA from China mangled my name but could say =D- pretty well, much closer to my name than what came out when he tried to say my name, so I told him he could just call me that and some of the other students thought it was funny. [Smile]

In fact, I think I even registered this name once. Yes i did. [Smile]
