I just read that NPR's Morning Edition is booting Bob Edwards as its anchor, demoting him to a correspondent. Instead, Steve Inskeep and Rene Montagne will be co-anchors.

They can't do this! It's outrageous! What will I do without Bob Edwards' voice to tell me about all the news on my morning commute?

I don't know. Live. Cry. I don't know.

I don't listen to NPR--why are these other two so bad?

They're not bad. However, they are reporters, not anchors. They are definitely not Bob Edwards.

Probably a money issue. NPR probably can't really afford any high-profile personalities.

I pretty much listen to NPR exclusively. Their news programs are in a class by themselves, and they play jazz all night. Mmm.

that sucks. I'm sorry.

There's NPR's announcement. It doesn't say why he left Morning Edition. I'm sad he's gone though. I woke up to his voice for years.
quote:
NPR said:
Beginning in May, NPR's Steve Inskeep and NPR's Renee Montagne will serve as interim hosts of Morning Edition pending selection of Edwards' successor.

Personally I thought Bob Edwards had a rather monotonal voice for a radio host.

I'm upset, too. Bob Edwards is just the best! I can't imagine why they'd ever think of getting rid of him. He's so smart and he always hits just the right note on interviews. The way he interacts with people is perfect. I will miss him terribly. I think we should get up in arms, have a huge march on the NPR headquarters in D.C., throw rotten tomatoes, and roll all their yards. How could they?
