Went out swing dancing again tonight. This time with Sophie, which was a lot more fun than normal cuz she and I both know all each other's moves. We were doing a bunch of aerials and were one of the best dancing couples on the floor.

Man! It's so much fun!

We're probably gonna go again next week. [Big Grin]

I love it too. I've had a couple friends that have made me go a few times despite all of my insecurities and misgivings...it's always been a blast!!

Calvin: Where are you from again? I know we discussed this in chat, but I don'r remember.

The reason I am asking is that New York City has a few clubs that have swing dancing, and they sometimes have national acts like Big Bad Voodo Daddy and Cherry Poppin' Daddies.
JenniK and I saw CPD at the Mohegan Sun Casino with my parents....it was free, but we didn't get there in time to get a seat so we just watched outside on the casino floor. We had a blast, even though I don't really swing dance. I want to learn, but Jenni and I don't have the time for lessons right now. She can already swing a bit, but I only know a few moves.....but as I am a 34 year old white guy who can keep a beat (I played 6 instruments, after all, many moons ago), I feel I am WAY ahead of the game.....lol!

I learned to Lindy Hop a couple years ago which is by far the coolest swing there is. You can look really cool and be largely on the ground. Unfortunately, my partner graduated and no one else around here ever seems to know how to lindy. [Frown]

I'm from D.C.

Man, what I wouldn't give to see Cherry Poppin' Daddies. I even bought a foreign single of their's that had a spanish version of Zoot Suit Riot on it.

While I'm wishing, I'd also love to see Royal Crown Revue. They did all the music in the mask. And their song Zip Gun Bop is fantastic.

I have their CD. [Smile]

They were in The Mask.

Edit: Duh. You said that. *shakes head*

I, too, love swing dancing. Or rather, ballroom dancing that I corrupt into a swing look-a-like. [Smile]

I want to learn some aerial maneuvers, but for that I'd need to have a regular partner who was about the right height and weight...

I went swing dancing again tonight. It was awesome. We even learned a few new moves. And the aerials are still as fun as always.

The CD I have of Cherry Poppin' Daddies has that silgle on it, in spanish. My wife, who is a spanish major @ UMASS, really loves it.

I like Royal Crown Review, and one of their songs is on one of my compilation disks. They sound great, and I loved them in The Mask. I think (although I may be wrong) that they are based on the west coast so I don't know if we'll ever see them around here in the east.

JenniK and I went to DC on our honeymoon this Oct, and we enjoyed it very much. Oddly enough, we never found time to go swing dancing .... [Blushing]
