I know this sounds strange, I just want to find a board where women are generally complaining about the men in their life. Preferably they are married with children.

I've been poking around, but I just can't find quite the right words to google. I've tried ivillage. Every message is on a different page and they load way too slow, so it has taken me half an hour just to slog through and I still haven't found quite what I'm looking for.

This is for writing research. I know of a few stories and attitudes, but I want to get more of a feel for it.

Are you sure that you'll find what you're looking for?

The only women griping about men conversations I've really seen have been in glamour magazines, short stories, and one bridal shower that would curl your hair. This guy called his girlfriend, implied he had big news (she thought he was going to propose), and dumped her at work when he was going to pick her up. At her desk. At her new job. With people there. The bridal shower conversation was a discussion of this guy. Holy moly.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you're thinking of totally exists, but there's probably a thread around here about it.

try mothering.com and momswhothink.com

they are boards for mothers and I'm sure there is much complaining going on.

If you see any being done by "mammamouse" please link me... I need to know [Wink]

This is exactly why I no longer participate in thier scifi discussion board. It used to be faster (like 5 years ago), and then they changed to a format that was harder to read and slow. They do have a ton of chat rooms if you think that would be a viable option.

katharina,

I've sat in Relief Society Enrichment meeting doing crafts at a table where all the women were putting down their husbands. I was mortified. But now I can't remember what they were saying.

So yes, it exists. If it exists there, I'm sure I can find a board with it.

Oh jeez. I knew I hated family ward Relief Society.

I once found a wonderful board with a group of women who loved the country (as I do) and seemed to be very self-sufficient, and independent, and there was some good-natured male bashing on it occassionally. I thought it was great.

Then, about 2-3 months into posting on that site, I suddenly realized, through reading all their posts, that nearly everyone else that posted was lesbian.

So I didn't feel like I fit. I don't even remember the name of the forum now.

Why didn't you fit? You're self-sufficient, country-loving, and up for a bit of good-natured male bashing.

Because lesbians bashing men is different than heterosexual women bashing men. At least I would assume so, as they probably have very different interactions with men than do straight women.

There must be much less bitterness and negativity where you live. Or work, perhaps.

Try a teacher's workroom. Or a women's locker room.

There seems to be an element of "one-upmanship" in the bashing. You whine about what you put up with. Then the next woman says, "My husband does that too." and goes on and on about her life trials. Usually the little frustrations you have in your married life get exaggerated. It's kind of fun to take part it, as long as you know it's a game. And sometimes, as with all gossip, it makes you feel ashamed of yourself for participating. And it can bite you in the butt, too.

I don't know if you only want a site where it is the sole focus, but the community forum at Radiantrecovery.com is very female dominated. I actually quit that site before I came to hatrack. The guru really ticked me off.

As a man, I don't frequent such places....but if I had to guess, try http://boards.lifetimetv.com/

Topic #1 for today seems to be "My Man watches Porn"

YMMV

The secret truth is, we men are so near perfect, women can't find anything to complain about.
