How's everyone doing today?

--I--

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Aw. That bad?

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Pretty good, I suppose. And how are you this fine morning, Storm?

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

I could use a cuppa'.

Posted by Ayelar (Member # 183) on :

I find little satisfaction in my job.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Tired, JB. Couldn't sleep last night. I can't get freaking xwindows to load so I struggled with that for a while last night. I think I'm just going to be lazy and buy a recent version of Linux rather than try and figure out what rpms to extract and recompile and whatnot.

Also! Getting car worked on. Will be good to have more reliable transportation.

Thanks for asking! [Smile]

Everything o.k. in your neck of the woods?

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Ayelar, you know what? I find people who find satisfaction in mundane jobs frightening. "I love my job as paper pusher #654!" [Angst]

Being unhappy at a crappy job is a sign of excellent mental health. It means you will go far because you don't 'settle'.

Loading Windows, ugh.

Well, I am OK, except I tore a muscle Saunday in my shoulder. Ouch. Taking the kids ( plus the neighbors 13 yo) to the Science Center today. They have a Space exhibit going on.

Hoy is everyone else?

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Yeah, everything's pretty much okay for me, too. I need to get my car worked on, and I have a couple of papers to write, but that's really about the worst of it. I'm currently cleaning up a manuscript written by a blind guy. It's a rather interesting experience.

Posted by sndrake (Member # 4941) on :

I have nine episodes of Deep Space Nine on tape, with eight more ready to begin taping in a few hours.

I had a decent night's sleep.

I have at least two groups in two cities who plan to do a protest I asked them to do.

And there's enough in the pot for a second cup of coffee.

Life is good today. [Smile]

But what if Ayelar is a doctor in the NICU? [Angst]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Was the paper written using 'jaws'?

I couldn't use braille keyboards, I think. My fingers aren't sensitive enough.

romany, that sounds reaaaaally fun. I love science centers. [Smile]

[Wave] Stormy! Thanks for asking. I slept well for the first time in weeks. [Razz] After staying up 'til 3:30 the night before, and then struggling through 4 hours of teaching, I was deadly exhausted...

Plus, it's finally sunny around here.

[Cool]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

sndrake, that's awesome.

er...ayelar is a doctor?

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Sleep....*droool*

Sal, what do you teach?

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

From what I've read, I get the impression that the author wasn't always blind. It seems like he was simply touch-typing on a regular keyboard.

Experimental biophysics of macromolecules and membranes...

Hey, YOU asked! [Smile]

Posted by Lara (Member # 132) on :

A genius in our midst!
Jon, you're an editor?

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Yup.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Oh, lord. Please don't stroke his ego, Lara.

Thanks, Storm. That made me smile. [Smile]

And don't worry, people, I'm not a doctor. I fix powerpoint presentations and move tables around. Yesterday I changed the time on all the clocks in the building. [Razz]

Too late! It's already inflating out of control!

I got a donut today for editing something for another department. What a nice surprise! Also, though I slept terribly, I woke feeling pretty good. I'm editing a beginning German course at the moment, and it's kinda fun.

And I'm married to Jon Boy. That makes me happy. Overall, doing well. Thanks for asking.

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Nobody gives me donuts for editing stuff . . . [Frown]

Sweetie, I won't be able to make it to lunch today. I have to go work on my Beowulf translation thingy.

Posted by PaladinVirtue (Member # 6144) on :

Cool Sal! Nice to see another Biologist around here. Can you say where you teach or would that get youn into trouble at school/work?

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

"Is there an editor in the house?!? Without proper scholarly attention, this man will die--or at least, he'll make very greivous spelling and syntactical errors!"

[Grumble] The time change didn't bother me yesterday, but it did today [Grumble] My dogs have been gone less thatn 24hours and I already miss them [Grumble] They are on their way to Georgia. [Grumble] My dogs are far more well traveled than I am! [Grumble]

I will say,"Yeah. I am not down with time change."

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Don't hate me just because I'm better than you, Storm.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

I just want to steal your rhymes.

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

Even in this, the best of times?

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Hey, it's MC Dagonee.

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Not my precious rhymes! [Angst] I sold my soul for those!

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

Thanks for asking.

I don't know how I'll have an income this summer, and I'm tired of being told not to worry about it when nothing has been done.

Given the current amount of uncertainty with the administrative aspects of my work, I am suffering from a serious lack of enthusiasm.

I have jury duty in a couple of days.

Fortunatly, I still have lots of salt water taffy to console myself with.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Sorry, Cow. That sucks. [Frown] I hope you can get a job soon.

In the mean time, enjoy the taffy. [Smile]

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

And I have no idea how I managed to post from this account. I must be losing my mind. I don't remember logging it in!

*hands storm some taffy*

I need a nap. I stayed up until midnight last night playing with RoboHelp. Thanks kat (and afr)! [Big Grin]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Er...and what exactly is this 'robohelp'?

Stormy, the temptation to wink and coyly tell you I would say but it would offend Papa Moose is almost overwealming. [Big Grin]

::dies laughing::

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I'm more disturbed that you thanked me for it. [Razz]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Not only that, but Kat and afr gave you assistance....

Posted by jeniwren (Member # 2002) on :

[ROFL]

So aren't we glad that RoboHelp is software for building Help files?

Kat, I really do appreciate that you steered me in that direction...it's going to make me look very impressive to my boss. [Smile]

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

My complete pleasure. [Smile] It's a great program.

[Roll Eyes] Men.

I'm having a smilier day now, though. [Big Grin]

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

I would assume so.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Do you need more robohelp to feel better, Jeni?

*scandalized*

[Monkeys]

Posted by zgator (Member # 3833) on :

My image of you is now shattered, Jeni. [No No]

You're really no better than the rest of us.

Posted by jeniwren (Member # 2002) on :

Well, thank heaven for that, Zan. [Big Grin]

And it looks like I've derailed the thread.

So, how is everyone today? [Wave]

Posted by zgator (Member # 3833) on :

I'm good now. One of my coworkers is off vacationing in New Zealand and I've spent the past several days finishing up a several year long project he worked on that just had to be completed while he was gone.

He and I are going to have words when he gets back.

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

I'm up to my ears in abadnonment of rail right-of-way easements and the availability of equitable relief in public and private nuisance claims. How's your day going? [Smile]

Dagonee

Posted by Lara (Member # 132) on :

Cow, will this help you at all?

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

What do you do for a living?

Posted by Lara (Member # 132) on :

I work for a wilderness program for adjudicated kids. And be a single twenty-something [Smile] I know it doesn't work after a certain period of time, but if you don't have obligations just yet...

All right. I was advertising my thread. [Big Grin]

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

I had a class in high school with a guy that said one of those places had turned his life around.

And, duh, you can only bump your own threads and threads about you so many times on your own. [Wink]

Posted by Ophelia (Member # 653) on :

I'm good, good, good. [Smile]

I would be fantastic, except I'm rather bored. Plus the rainstorm I was enjoying stopped. Plus I'm kind of hungry. Plus I know I should do work, and I also know I won't.

But I'm good. Great, even. [Smile]

Posted by Eruve Nandiriel (Member # 5677) on :

Storm, I think you just got the record number of dobies off this thread. I count at least six. [Smile]

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

Posted by Telperion the Silver (Member # 6074) on :

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

I'm ok, I guess. At least the sun is shining.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Tolerable, I suppose...

No, actually I'm not bad. Got an essay back today with a very good mark so I'm happy about that [Smile] . It's sunny [Cool] and the snow is melting again [Big Grin] .

In January I applied for a pretty cool sounding telecommuting job. Last week they called and I went in for an interview, but I'm conflicted as to whether or not I should take it. Even though it hasn't officially been offered to me yet.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

Better than I was last week. I got a decent amount of sleep last night, so I'm going to Tae Kwon Do in a minute for the first time in... God, forever. Even though my advanced lack of sleep over the last few weeks has given me an extreme case of the sore muscles... AOW...

I'm tired and slightly headachy. But I'm getting better as I wake up (the coffee may have something to do with that also [Smile] ).

And - no work on Friday! Woo hoo!

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Better, now that Pack Meeting is over. I can relax now! We tried to do both the "Space Derby" and prepare the boys and families to support a booth at the Scouting Expo. Whew! It's a lot of work! Lots of fun too.

Hey! It's a new day! Good morning, everyone! Time to rise and shine! If I can't sleep in, no one sleeps in.

*Stretches, yawns and considers the relative merits of calling in sick . . . better judgement prevails and she goes to hustle Nathan through his bath - dang that kid can be slow!*
