Hi. I've been lurking on these forums for the past few days (I generally try to do that before I make a post in a forum I'm not familiar with). I found many of the posts to be very engaging. And to be honest, I'd like to be part of this online community.

Anyways, before I started contributing to threads I figure I ought to say hello.

Lastly, if welcome threads such as this are not encouraged in this forum, I do appologize and I'll attempt to delete this post.

Wow, you weren't scared off by the recent plague of dobies?

Oh wait. Uh, welcome.

Welcome posts are great, though there is an official thread for them in the "Discussions on OSC" side of the board.

From looking over the forum, I'm assuming those dobie (I've never heard that term before) threads aren't really that common. I am extremely surprised at all the replies already though. I don't think I fully realised how active this forum is.

What?

Chungwa, don't worry about pooka. She's just trying to conserve this side of the board for all of her lame dobies.

I don't believe so. But then, I don't know who Jimmy is, so I guess there could be.

I must have missed that thread. Though I did choose to post the welcome here, since I plan to mainly post in this forum. But I guess that thread still would be the appropriate spot for this.

Welcome, but if you haven't noticed, not much going on around here right now. I think everyone is burned out and bordering insanity, manic depressives maybe. Hopefully, more engaging conversation will erupt soon.

Well, there's the Porn thread, the Communism thread even the Depression thread.

And if you want an engaging discussion, why not start a thread about something?

Edit: Oh, and welcome [Smile]

Welcome! The reason you haven't heard of dobies before is because they don't really exist anywhere else. We keep them cages up here and only take them out every once in a while for our own amusement when we get bored.

Hello, Chungwa... [Wave]

You mentioned you were surprised at how active this forum is. It's most active Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons/nights, and least active Sunday morning.

At least, that's what I've noticed.

Welcome to Hat-crack (as stated before). I hope I don't kill your introduction thread.

Yep, right under your bed MB. Don't look. They bite. They have HUGE teeth, like this. [Wink]

Hi Chungwa [Wave]

Yeah, I didn't know what a dobie was either until I came to Hatrack. Lots of things you will learn here -- some more important than others.. [Wink]

And yes, it is a very active forum -- bordering on almost being chat. That's why I stay in here all day during my boring job....

Welcome to Hatrack Chungwa--I have a feeling you're going to fit in perfectly! Don't worry about what side of the river you post your introduction; honestly, many of us rarely visit the other side, so if you're going to be posting over here primarily, you chose the right place to post this. I'll go bump the latest "FAQ for Newcomers" type thread for you.
