I think that someone with some oversight authority needs to step in and get the program working properly. IMO, harrassing people based on their name (police interrogation, invalidated tickets and such) is not the way to go about protecting the public. In the end, people will see it as being ineffective, and we'll be open to attack again (since the magic 3 questions haven't saved us).

Then again, I'm against profiling without either the person's knowledge or consent (even though consent means next to nothing for rights these days), and even more so with a program that doesn't have any sort of checks and balances.

The problem seems to be there are many secret unknown ways that a persons name winds up on the no-fly list. Once there, anyone sharing that name is either repeatedly searched or grounded permanately. Once you prove that you are not the terrorist that shares your name, you are cleared, only until the next time you try to bored a plane.

I think we need to put a few governmental heads on the list, and see how fast they clear up the problems then. If the head of the FAA or high ranking Homeland Securtiy officials could not fly withouth strip searches, I think things would change.
