I was never introduced to who (if any) of the posters belong to the Card family. I am curious what their reaction and insight is into all this interest in different factors of porn. Didn't mean to start such a Cascade.

Hi. I'm Joe Card.

A Rat Named Dog is Geoff.

kacard is, um, the member of the family whose name begins with the letters "ka". I can never remember this one.

And Orson Scott Card is Orson Scott Card.

And, just to be on the safe side, I'm pretty sure the Joker and that naughty Ace of Spades are the only ones who have ever as much as thought about pornography.

And Heather Laurae, or however it's spelled, is Mrs. Card.

This thread is really a house of Cards....

The Cards (except Geoff) really don't post on here very often. We consider it a national holiday of great importance when they do.

However, we don't have any idea how often they actually READ our posts...

I got busted pretty quick in that grinch thread. I don't know if that was just luck for them or what. Though I guess they had cause to be monitoring it pretty close. kacard posts more frequently in the "Questions on OSC" side. OSC himself is, of course, quite busy finishing Rachel and Leah [Big Grin] I hope, I hope [Big Grin]

kacard (my mother) reads or skims almost everything on the forum, but steps in only when she feels it is necessary. I, on the other hand, post constantly without listening to anybody else.

Heather Laurae (my wife) reads a bit more than she posts, and Orson Scott Card (my father) basically ignores Hatrack to tend to his full-time job of playing his cheated-up version of Civilization II.

I don't often point out my relationship to the Card family, mostly because I think nepotism is lame. But since there are so many jokes floating around, I wanted to set the record straight [Smile]

On the dreaded subject of pr0n, I'm pretty tolerant of just about any subject, but kacard has a very strong desire to maintain this as a place where people of all ages can freely participate, even cracking down on me when I push the limits. I think that's a very good policy, and I support it wholeheartedly, especially when i'm the accidental perpetrator — so while it's totally cool to discuss the political and moral ramifications of porn, if the dicussion itself achieves any level of pornography, it's getting deleted without argument, I guarantee [Smile]

Geoff, your post is much more convincing than it would be posted under your other user name. [Razz]

Why did your parents name you Dog? Why kind of freakish dynamic is that? And how did they give birth to a rat anyway?

Oh my gosh! I thought Geoff Card just happened to have the same last name! [Eek!]
Well, that explains a lot...

Yeah, I kept wondering why Geoff was talking about his dad when the rest of us were talking about OSC...

A Rat Named Dog,

Your dad plays Civ2? lol. I am addicted to Civ3 Conquests, and wonder why he sticks with Civ2? The whole creating civs in space ruined the flow for me. There also didn't seem to be a harmony between damage of different units between ages...or does his cheated-up version fix that?

Incidentally, ever since I swore on hatrack and was censured, I have been mindful to avoid putting in inappropriate links in defense of my arguments (or to attempt to discredit others). I like how this site is monitored and maintained. Kudos to whoever is responsible. There is a great deal of respect here.

I heard Civilization and "the Sims" are merging.

[whisper] You know, that would explain why kacard accidentally posted as A Rat Named Dog once...[/whisper]
