...what kind would you be?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Beverly, i feel this thread topic is a set-up. i will not be roped into another discussion of furries.

Wolf.

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

i'd have to say liger.

Posted by StigLarson (Member # 5579) on :

A stoat.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Liger. ha ha. But then you couldn't have offspring.

or...is that the point?

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

Not all ligers are sterile.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Really?

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

It's rare but still possible.

Hmmm... lemme think....

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

A dog, probably a Lab or Retriever.....

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

I honestly don't know the answer to the question myself. I would love to be something that could run really fast, or fly, or swim well. Being able to change shape at will would be cool.

Edit: Reference to a "stoat" makes me think of "Watership Down". *shiver*

I just read up about ligers. Awesome!

From what I read, all ligers are sterile, but not all tigons. FYI

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

I just read some more, and people don't agree as to whether ligers are sterile or not.

A bear.

Posted by Brinestone (Member # 5755) on :

What do I want to be, or what resembles me most?

Want to be: peregrine falcon
Probably am: a rabbit

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Brinestone, I totally agree that those are two very different questions. I am asking both at the same time, I guess. Answer either or both. [Smile]

a rooster!

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

I guess if we are hypothetically talking about being another species, being another gender is only a minor change. [Smile]

Want to be: otter!
Probably am: mule

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

I wanna be an otter too!

Those guys do NOTHING but play around and have fun. My ideal life, swimming and messing around. [Big Grin]

A sea lion would be cool for the same reason [Smile] .

Also hawks have cool lives, and especially falcons.

But what I probably would be is a horse. I would rather be a wild one though, and anything domesticated is like slavery.

I'd be a dolphin.

There's a reason everyone wants to be smart and charming.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

*whispering* I'd love to be a unicorn myself, but I don't think I should say that too loud. [Wink]

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

Oooooh.

Good answer Toni.

To get to play and jump and swim and frolic and stuff...

AND be a super intelligent mammal...

AND have no natural predators (except sharks, but dolphins have been known to kill sharks frequently as well)...

AND be able to swim super fast and have an extensive long range communication system...

Well that would be even cooler than being a human almost [Smile] .

As long as I don't end up in a tuna net...

So yeah, I am stealing your answer [Wink] .

If we get to choose mythical beasts, I choose dragon.

Also, any volunteers who'd like to help me with a head for a hydra ?

Beverly, why not a pegasus unicorn ? This way you get a pair of wings for free !

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Certainly not humans....

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

You know, if we are talking about mythological beasts, I would choose Centaur. I would retain many human advantages, like opposable thumbs and good articulators, but I would be able to "run like the wind".

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

and hung like a horse...

Well not you if you retained your sex (though I think all centaurs are male, I am sure theres a female equivalent). Your hubby would be though [Wink] .

A dryad is cool too. Those are half human, half deer females.

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

I wrote a verse in high school about what it would be like to be an Eagle (that's what I would choose). It won an award.... I wonder if I can find it.

Xav, haven't you seen Disney's original "Fantasia"? Talk about some hot Centaur chicks.

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

Actually beverly, I found a really hot centaur chick myself upon my googling.

Probably can't show it on hatrack though cause she is topless. Very good drawing in my opinion. There are stars over her nipples, so she isn't exactly obsene, but still, nto suitable for hatrack.

Heres what you do though: google "centaur female"

Its the fourth link titled "deviantART: Female Centaur by ~angelbabe"

Or I suppose you can find it yourself with that title.

I would turn furry for her. *RAWR*

Or actually, *NEIGH*

Today I feel like a hedgehog. Prickly and safe from all predators except for a really hungry gypsy, who I wouldn't mind feeding because they have it hard enough as it is.

p.S. [Blushing] I clicked on the google ad. I've never heard of Eliza Cuthbert, but I wanted to take a chance that it really was related somehow.

FURRIES!! AHHHH!!! I thought I was escaping furries while I was here, but no! Help meeee!!

Anyhow, this is a topic of discussion at my lunch table. Invariably, though, I get named a sloth because of my affinity for green and my sleeping habits. This doesn't make me happy.

If I had to name myself something, I would be a cat. Because I can be lazy, but I can also be dangerous. And I sleep a lot. ._.

I would be a red-tailed hawk. I've always found them to be beautiful creatures, and I think flying would be a wonderful way to escape my parents telling me what to do with the rest of my life...

But that's another tangent. [Razz]

CURIOSITY

may have killed the cat; more likely
the cat was just unlucky, or else curious
to see what death was like, having no cause
to go on licking paws, or fathering
litter on litter of kittens, predictably.

Nevertheless, to be curious
is dangerous enough. To distrust
what is always said, what seems,
to ask old questions, interfere in dreams,
leave home, smell rats, have hunches
do not endear cats to those doggy circles
where well-smelt baskets, suitable wives, good lunches
are the order of things, and where prevails
much wagging of incurious heads and tails.

Face it. Curiosity
will not cause us to die --
only lack of it will.
Never to want to see
the other side of the hill
or that improbable country
where living is an idyll
(although a probable hell)
would kill us all.
Only the curious
have, if they live, a tale
worth telling at all.

Dogs say cats love too much, are irresponsible,
are changeable, marry too many wives,
desert their children, chill all dinner tables
with tales of their nine lives.
Well, they are lucky. Let them be
nine-lived and contradictory,
curious enough to change, prepared to pay
the cat price, which is to die
and die again and again,
each time with no less pain.
A cat minority of one
is all that can be counted on
to tell the truth. And what cats have to tell
on each return from hell
is this that dying is what the living do.
that dying is what the loving do
and that dead dogs are those who do not know
that dying is what, to live, each has to do.

I'd like to be a dolphin or some sort of travelling bird like a swallow (don't ask which kind).

I have no idea as to what I would be. Perhaps a lizard of somekind.

ps. I just read up on Tigons and Ligers and I must say they are very cool.

I think it would be cool to be a lion, but knowing my luck, I’d be one of those rogue bachelor lions that can’t beat out the alpha male to get any of the females and has to wander the savanna alone.

I think it'd also be pretty cool to be a human/animal chimera, actually, most chimeras would be cool.

Yeah, CalvinMaker is my little brother. His new lack of singleness is nothing to do with me. [Smile]

But of course if I were an animal, I'd be the animal I am, a dragon. Ancient, deadly, and full of venom, as Slashy once said. [Smile]

Yeah, that is a great poem, CT. [Smile] I especially love "chill all dinnertables with tales of their nine lives" and "suitable wives" and "much wagging of incurious heads and tails".

I'd want to be some kind of bird of prey.

Here's a related question: this seems to be what animal would you want to be. Now, based on your personality, what kind do you think you'd end up being?

Inn my angy-at-myself moments, I'd say a poisonous snake. Otherwise, probably some sort of spaniel.

And you're famous for one day each year.

I'm thinking a thoroughbred stallion. What a great life. The pampered childhood. The moments of glory on the racetrack (winning the triple crown, naturally enough).

But the best part would be the retirement. Oh, yeah.
