Unfortunately, this dobie is NOT FUNNY. [Frown] My car got stolen from a church parking lot in downtown Portland during the two hour window in which I was inside the church performing in our triumphant farewell choir concert before our trip to Minneapolis this week. [Frown]

I am so annoyed!!! I am carless!!!

What kind of a person would steal from a Church parking lot? [No No]

You know, church or other religious building parking lots seem to be gaining in popularity for thieves. Not too long ago, a television and stereo was swiped from one of my friend's cars during one of our meetings. I think we tend to be a little less cautious when parking around people we trust, and we forget that people we don't trust are free to walk by our car.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get it back, or find a replacement, soon.

More people than you might think. Generally church functions last a decent length of time, and typically everyone arrives and leaves at the sametime. Leaving a period of time to steal a car with very little risk of being caught red handed.

On the other hand, this will definitely go down as one of the most memorable dobies ever.

First of all (((Narnia)))

Second of all, Have you also contacted your insurance company? Do you have rental car coverage? If so they should be able to get you in a car today that you can use for up to 30 days until your car is recovered or you find a replacement. Also, those 30 days can be spread out. You can get the car today and use it before your trip. Return it. Then get another car after you get back. The days don't have to be consecutive.

Also, make sure you sit down soon and right down a list of everything else you had in your car that was your personal property. You may not get reimbursed for those things on your Auto policy, but you need to list them and then find out what your coverage is. If personal property isn't covered at all on your auto policy, it might be covered on a homeowners or renters policy. (don't know your living situation)

Good Luck and I'm glad you weren't carjacked or hurt when it happened.

[Frown] I'm so sorry.

We had our car broken into and the air bags stolen once while we were at church. It is NOT safe.

You guys are great. Thanks for your good vibes and thoughts. I think that all this good energy is why they FOUND the car this morning!! *does the happy dance* I'm so relieved and grateful. The car was in my dad's name and this would have been a huge burden on my parents had it been swiped permanently.

It lookes like they just jimmied the lock because the window wasn't damaged. They broke the inside handle on the passenger door (??) and they broke the cup holder by the stick shift. Dang. What am I going to do without that cup holder? [Wink]

So now we're all breathing again and I'm very glad that it was found. Thanks for all of your words and thoughts to make me feel better. [Smile] I love hatrack.

We have had people steal things from our church BUILDING while we were having a service. It's so stupid.

*laughs* One year we had thugs in black and goth make-up come to our Easter service. They were obviously out for some kicks and were trying to shake us up on our holiday. Joke's on them, though. They were asked by no less than fifty old people to "come to Christ" and join us at our Potluck afterwards. They beat it out of there, but not before they TP'ed the cars in the parking lot. *shakes head*

Oh, and congrats on the car! YAY!

The important question is, are you still "totally FINE!" ? [Razz]

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

YES! [Smile] (But I know I ruined the dobie, huh?)

Oh by the way, thanks to jehovoid for appreciating the dobie. Even in a crisis, I'm always on the lookout for good dobieage. [Smile]
